There's no domestic date yet and no distributor either, but that doesn't change the fact that Anton Corbijn's "A Most Wanted Man" is on our 100 Most Anticipated Films Of 2013 list. The director behind the enigmatic "Control" and the cool and collected "The American," returns with a new project, an adaptation of a John Le Carre novel and he's bringing a helluva cast with him for what looks like another excellent outing for the filmmaker.

In the grip of the early winter blahs at the multiplex and with the blockbuster season just around the corner, it may seem that anything resembling a smart, adult drama is far, far away (this weekend's "Side Effects" being the exception). Well, not to fear, because Anton Corbijn is here and the "Control" and "The American" director is gearing up a new thriller, "A Most Wanted Man," and now we have our first look.

Even with only two feature films under his belt, photographer and filmmaker Anton Corbijn has become a director with a distinct voice. His debut "Control" was a startling look at the life of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis, while his followup "The American" placed George Clooney in a pretty nifty anti-thriller that favored mood over action. And so we couldn't be more excited about this next, the John Le Carré adaptation of "A Most Wanted Man." And with production now starting, a few more names an official synopsis have been revealed for the picture.

Anton Corbijn transitioned from music video directing/rock-photography to feature filmmaking fairly late in his career. First up, he combined his love of music and pictures with a biopic of Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis that made a star of Sam Riley and followed that up with an adaptation of Martin Booth's novel "A Very Private Gentleman," which he turned into the existential hitman drama "The American" starring George Clooney. Corbijn Is now putting together the pieces for what could be his last hurrah, an adaptation of "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" author John le Carre's spy-thriller "A Most Wanted Man."

Robin Wright is in negotations to join Anton Corbijn's adaptation of John le Carré's novel "A Most Wanted Man." Quickly becoming one of our most anticipated projects of 2013 -- Corbijn's "The American" being one of the vastly underrated pictures of 2010 -- this political thriller centers on a Chechian Muslim who illegally immigrates to Hamburg and then gets caught up in the international war on terror.

It looks like Rachel McAdams is going to continue the one-for-them-one-for-me approach. The actress has been oscillating between more indie minded/less commercial fare (relatively speaking) like "The Lucky Ones," "Midnight In Paris" (who would've predicted it would have been a smash hit?) and "State Of Play" and bigger/schlockier stuff like "Sherlock Holmes" and this year's "The Vow." But it looks like the actress is getting a bit more risky and frisky. She's currently lensing "Passion" with Brian De Palma and the provocative first image was unveiled recently, and it looks like the rest of her year will be dominated by a rom-com and a thriller.

After adapting Martin Booth's "A Very Private Gentleman" to much acclaim, it looks like Dutch rock-photographer Anton Corbijn is once again turning to a novel for inspiration with his next project now revealed to be an adaptation of John le Carré's 2008 political thriller "A Most Wanted Man."
