With the exception of the FX comedy “Wilfred,” Elijah Wood has kept a low-profile since the “Lord Of The Rings” trilogy ended, sticking to indies and genre fare, and he continues in that latter vein, joining the horror movie “Cooties.” Written by “Glee” co-creator Ian Brennan and “Insidious” scribe Leigh Whannell, the film stars Wood as “an unlikely hero [who] must lead a motley band of teachers in the fight of their lives against” elementary school students whom are transformed “into a feral swarm of mindless savages” after a mysterious virus hits. Commercial and music video director Ace Norton will be making his feature length directorial debut.

Danish actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will be best known to most for his role as the charismatic but despised Jaime Lannister on HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” while to the few he’ll be known for his intimidating turn in “Headhunters.” But it increasingly looks like that won’t be the case for long. Coster-Waldau was recently rumoured to be competing with “Lost” vet Josh Holloway for a role in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” and now he’s set to star opposite Juliette Binoche in the indie drama “A Thousand Times Good Night.”
