'Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson' Is Now Bloody 'Abraham Lincoln' Benjamin Walker Is 'Vampire Hunter'

After a courtship period that involved the likes of Eric Bana and Adrien Brody among others, THR reports that Fox has settled on who they want to wear the Presidential rags of "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." In an unusual twist, they have selected the least-known of all candidates, the young Benjamin Walker. Walker, was cast earlier this year as Beast in "X-Men: First Class," but was evidently ousted from the role for age reasons (reportedly too close in age to James McAvoy). Regardless, he's now set to wear the beard of Honest Abe this March, when filming starts under director Timur Bekmambetov, for a June 22nd, 2012 release.

Benjamin Walker, James D'Arcy & Oliver Jackson-Cohen Also In The MixWith the release date set for summer 2012, things are beginning to heat up for the Timur Bekmambetov directed, Tim Burton produced historical zombie action pic "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." While Tom Hardy was offered the part of Henry Sturgess last fall, and Eric Bana was being considered last month for Abe Lincoln, a whole new crop of names have entered the mix for the presidential role and will start testing soon.

Bana Also Taking A Meeting On 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter The career of Eric Bana to date has been kind of a funny one. The Australian former stand-up comedian grabbed everyone's attention with a blazing performance, one of the decade's best, in Andrew Dominik's "Chopper," but when Hollywood discovered that Bana could clean up into a chiseled leading man, the actor was thrust into action roles in "Hulk" and "Troy." These were followed by leads in misfires "Lucky You" and "The Other Boleyn Girl," with only an excellent performance in Steven Spielberg's "Munich" proving to be a bright light.

If being offered the lead role in "Snow White And The Huntsman" didn't tip you off, Tom Hardy is one of the hottest talents in Hollywood right now. His turn in "Inception" made it known to a wider audience what those who saw "Bronson" already knew; the actor is the real deal and has the charisma and skill to be a major leading man. So, no surprise then that with 'Huntsman' now trying to land Johnny Depp to lead the film, Hardy has been offered the role of Henry Sturgess in another tentpole vehicle, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter."
