Among the many projects Phillip Noyce has been looking at since last summer's "Salt" -- which have included the time travel tale "Timeless," a remake of "Bloodsport" (!?) and more recently the sexual thriller "The Arrangement" -- lurking in the back has always been "My Wild Life." It first came on the radar at the end of 2010 as a possibility for the helmer, and then gained more traction this spring when Nicole Kidman began eyeing the lead role. Now it looks like it's going to leapfrog ahead of everything else to become Noyce and Kidman's next picture.

That's His Next Film, Not His Next Next Film, His Next Next Next Film Or His Next Next Next Next FilmWhat in the name of grace and nature has gotten into Terrence Malick recently? With the announcement yesterday of two new projects both starring Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett -- "Lawless," also with Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara, and "Knight of Cups" with Isabel Lucas -- it means that the reclusive auteur looks likely to make more films in the space of this decade than he did in the previous 35 put together. Of course, he unveiled "The Tree of Life" this year, and has the IMAX documentary "Voyage of Time" reportedly still in the works, not to mention his rumored involvement with "Green Lantern 2." Okay, that we just made up.

No, this isn't Matthew Wilder‘s “Inferno” that was famously going to have Lindsay Lohan in the lead role, but now is toplined by Malin Akerman and Matt Dillon. Instead, this is the competing project by “Howl” and “The Celluloid Closet” directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman that at one point was courting Kate Hudson and James Franco (who've both moved on), and had Olivia Wilde taking a look during the summer. It has now cast up, and the talent on board is pretty strong.

While his Lisbeth Salander, played by Noomi Rapace, used her turn in the Swedish Millenium trilogy films to break into Hollywood with roles in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows" and "Prometheus," original "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" director Niels Arden Oplev hasn't fared quite as well. While he's been attached to quite a few projects -- "Game Theory," "The Keep" and "The Last Photograph" (though Zack Snyder, who developed the movie has now decided to direct it himself) -- none have really taken off, but it looks like his old leading lady is coming back with a much bigger star in tow get his next project moving.

The domestic trailer for "Shame" has arrived, and if you're a keen follower of this film, you'll realize this trailer is pretty much identical to the the U.K. version you've already seen. But the point is spreading the word for a controversial sexual drama that's been stamped with the dreaded NC-17 tag (though some are already posting this could work in the film's favor and calling it a "badge of honor").

With cameras now rolling, looks like there was one more part to cast in Arnold Schwarzenegger's "The Last Stand." Genesis Rodriguez may not be a familiar name just yet, but 2012 should change that. She raised eyebrows earlier in the year, appearing frequently undressed in the trailer for "Man On A Ledge," and with roles in the Will Ferrell comedy "Casa de mi Padre" and "What To Expect When You're Expecting." Her profile is set to rocket to those who haven't kept up with her travails on the Spanish language dramas "Doña Bárbara" and "Prisionera."

Park City has been the scene of plenty of break-out performances in recent years, but this year's festival looks set to be known as the birth and unveiling of Brit Marling. The actress came to the festival with Mike Cahill's "Another Earth" and Zal Batmanglij's "Sound Of My Voice," and walked away with her name on everyone's lips -- she's since scored roles in "Arbitrage" opposite Richard Gere and Susan Sarandon as well as in Robert Redford's "The Company You Keep," which boasts an all-star cast.
