Grown Ups 2
Spoiler alert: the very last joke of “Grown Ups 2” involves a character passing gas on Salma Hayek. This is Salma Hayek, one of the great actresses of international cinema, a global star in multiple languages, one of the most beautiful women in the world, and an Oscar nominee. This is Salma Hayek, who has served on the Cannes jury and has produced and starred in several boundary-crossing Spanish language films, where her consistency has become almost taken for granted. And here she is, in “Grown Ups 2,” where she exists in order to model low-cut trash fashion that spotlights her chest, and then eat a mouthful of flatulence as the final punchline to a vanity project by some of our most famous, laziest American comedians. This is the way our film culture ends: not with a whimper, but with a fart.

The Films Of Adam Sandler
Beloved on “Saturday Night Live” and loved a lot less since then, one need look no further than recent conversations about a box office weekend showdown (“Pacific Rim” vs. “Grown Ups 2”) to see just how far Adam Sandler's reputation has sunk with some audiences. Often perceived as a moronic blight on comedy and movies, this point is sometimes difficult to argue, especially in recent years as the quality of his comedies has become nearly negligible (though Armond White will fight you on that opinion to the death; that respected critic loves the man).

Remakes of Asian films about ectoplasm terrorizing the living were popular undertakings in Hollywood a few years ago ("The Ring," "The Grudge," "Pulse," "The Eye," "Dark Water"). But apparently, we are not done yet. The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Adam Sandler and director Chris Columbus will be teaming up to remake the 2010 South Korean film "Hello Ghost." People who are in for a good fright will be disappointed as this is the remake of a comedy that ended being the 9th highest grossing film at the South Korean box office in 2010.

So, there's two ways to look at this story: as a reteaming between Colin Firth and Emily Blunt who star in "Arthur Newman" opening today or as the rare non-Happy Madison outing by Adam Sandler. We'll let you decide which one you want to go with, but the bottom line is this is a pretty good, and unexpected cast for this upcoming comedy.

So, this summer marks a not so momentous occasion: "Grown Ups 2" is the first Adam Sandler sequel. And in making the followup to the smash hit "Grown Ups" -- a movie we still have a tough time believing anyone actually liked, even though lots of people went to see it for some reason -- Sandler rounded up some extra help to join his regular crew. And we never though we would type this but it's come to the point where Taylor Lautner is now funnier than Adam Sandler. Really.

Spring is coming, which means Adam Sandler needs another paid vacation with his friends, so he's deciding to make a new movie. No, it won't be that western "Ridiculous 6," probably because that would've required changing out of track pants, but instead he'll be gathering up a familiar team for a resort set rom-com. Hooray.

2012 wasn't lacking in terrible films, but it seems for the folks at the annual Razzie Awards -- celebrating the very best of the worst -- it was time to honor one franchise for delivering consistently schlocky films to massive box office success.

While some thought that Judd Apatow’s 2009 dramedy “Funny People” could mark a turning point of sorts for Adam Sandler, the comedy star has dedicated the years since to further become the type of actor he lampooned in the viral ads for the Apatow film. And now, Deadline is reporting that he’s thinking about teaming up again with the actress he’s already romanced in two previous films, to diminishing returns.

Latino Review continues their run of comic movie rumorin'. Today's rumor du jour involves the good folks at that site revealing that producers of 2015's planned "Justice League" movie have nailed down a cast of characters for the film, and are limiting the famously huge roster to five core members. We always knew Superman and Batman would be a part of the group, having their own separate franchises with this year's "Man Of Steel" and a possibly forthcoming "The Batman" on it's way. But who would join them?

Once seen as a series of soaring precedents afforded to Hollywood's best and brightest, the massive paychecks given to high-profile actors and directors today have since grown smaller with the film industry's cost-cutting measures. However, for an elite group of individuals, their price tag remains as high as it ever was, but now a recent list has revealed a slow reversal has begun for those once deemed financially golden.
