Adam Scott's career thus far pretty much defines the phrase "paying your dues." He's been working steadily pretty much since the start of his career logging time on both television and the big screen, but the last few years have finally seen his star deservedly rise. Of course, there was his stint on the criminally shortlived "Party Down" (which now is headed toward a feature film), apperances in Judd Apatow joints like "Knocked Up" and more notably "Step Brothers" and showing his range in everything from "Piranha 3D" to the indie "The Vicioius Kind." But 2012 seems to be the start of the next step in Scott's career. He's now fully fledged regular on "Parks & Recreation" (where he's tearing it a new one, see below) and has "Friends With Kids" arriving in the spring with Sundance hit "Bachlorette" arriving later in the year, and he's booked a big studio movie that will keep him busy during his hiatus from running Leslie Knope's political campaign.

If you saw J.J. Abrams' franchise reboot "Star Trek" and thought, "Nyota Uhura and Spock? Really?" you're not alone. On this week's episode of "Parks and Recreation," Adam Scott's perfectly nerdy and awkward character Ben Wyatt went on a mini-rant about the budding romance and warns Abrams about the Internet fallout that will happen if he follows through with it in "Star Trek 2." It's amazing. And Adam Scott knows what he's talking about. In case you forgot, he earned his Trekker cred as Defiant Helm Crewman in "Star Trek: First Contact." Watch below (the bit starts at 13:50).

Exclusive: Many a prematurely-canceled TV show lives on in hope of resurrection on the big-screen. This is partly due to the success of "Star Trek," originally a low-rated three-season TV show that became Paramount's biggest franchise after the success of "Star Wars". Very occasionally, it happens; Joss Whedon's cult sci-fi TV show "Firefly," became the Universal movie "Serenity," although the film didn't catch on with many beyond fans. But more often, there's a lot of talk, but very little action -- even Annyong's agent has given up hope of an "Arrested Development" movie ever happening.

We've made no secret of our love for Adam Scott in these parts, but he's somehow not quite become the massive star it feels like he's been destined to be for a while. The actor popped up as a vaguely familiar face in serious dramas like "The Aviator," "High Crimes" and, um, "Torque" (maybe not so much with the serious and the drama) in the first half of the last decade, but he then took a major about turn into comedy, stealing the show in "Step Brothers," leading ace sitcom "Party Down" and recently joining the cast of the amazing "Parks & Recreation." But at the same time, he's given some scorching dramatic performances in little-seen indies like "The Vicious Kind" and "Passenger Side," and even did the action movie thing in "Piranha 3D," leading to the impression that maybe Hollywood just doesn't quite know what to make of him.

Plus Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig & Adam Scott In 'Friends With Kids'Lots of Toronto first looks coming down the wire today, so we'll keep it brief, but two of the more anticipated comedies that'll bow at the festival just had their first official stills released. First up is "Jeff Who Lives At Home," the second mainstream picture from The Duplass Brothers, who became indie favorites with films like "The Puffy Chair" and "Baghead," proving to be standouts of the so-called 'mumblecore' scene, before getting to work with bigger names and budgets on last year's excellent "Cyrus."

Actor Also Signs On To Indie 'See Girl Run,' Is AwesomeIt didn't happen overnight by any means, but the world is finally starting to take notice of Adam Scott. The 38-year-old actor has been working for over 15 years now (he was in "Boy Meets World" and "Murder One"!), but finally started to grab people's attention in the first half of the last decade, with roles in "High Crimes," "Torque" and "The Aviator." And things have only gotten better since then: he stole the show from Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly in "Step Brothers" (see below for evidence), put in a terrific pair of indie performances in "The Vicious Kind" and "Passenger Side," led the already-legendary sitcom "Party Down" and even proved to be a viable action hero in last summer's "Piranha 3D."

Even though the film received respectful, rather than rave, reviews on its Sundance bow (our own review was one of the more positive), you can't cast Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer, Rashida Jones, Steve Coogan, Hugh Dancy, T.J. Miller, Adam Scott and Kathryn Hahn in a comedy together without leaving us begging to see the finished film, and that's why we've been firmly looking forward to "Our Idiot Brother" all year long.

With all the buzz building behind Judd Apatow and Paul Feig's "Bridesmaids," it was only a matter of time before similarly themed comedies started cropping up. So it's no surprise that equally comic production powerhouse Gary Sanchez -- the shingle run by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay -- are getting into the game.

We were already pretty excited when it was revealed that the mysterious Adam Yaunch directed short, "Fight For Your Right Revisted" had a cast that included Elijah Wood, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Will Ferrell, John C. Reilly and Jack Black. But if IMDB is accurate, that's just the tip of the iceberg in regards to which stars will be popping their heads on screen for the forthcoming short.
