Adore
We’ll be honest from sentence one. “Adore” hits two spots we love: movies for adults and (not-dumb) movies for and about women. We have our brief affairs with explosions, spit-take-inducing dialogue and car chases, but we have a long-term relationship with movies that are quiet and mature. They get bonus points if they feature strong female relationships. Okay, and hot dudes. But for all its efforts for seriousness, “Adore” never quite reaches true art, despite gorgeous cinematography and some fine work from its cast.

Yes, it's getting in hot in here, and it's not just the summer sun bearing down on you. What happens when two hot mamas get uncomfortable under the collar for the each other's hunky sons? No, this isn't that section of the bookstore you shamefully go into, it's "Adore" (previously known as "Two Mothers") the steamy new drama that basically asks what happens if you screwed your best friend's Mom?

When tackling provocative material, there is a fine line between drama and merely being seamy and soapy. And that's the line director Anne Fontaine ("Coco Before Chanel," "The Girl From Monaco") needs to balance in "Two Mothers" which brings together Naomi Watts and Robin Wright for a very unique story.

While his turn as the unstable Pope in "Animal Kingdom" turned heads, Ben Mendelsohn's first couple attempts to conquer Hollywood haven't quite worked out. Last fall he featured in"Killer Elite" and the disastrous Nic Cage/Nicole Kidman vehicle "Trespass." But, looking much more promising, he's got "Cogan's Trade" and "The Place Beyond The Pines" hitting theaters (or at least festivals) sometime this year, and he's lining up another project with some serious predigree.
