"CBGB," an upcoming cinematic chronicle of the famed New York music venue, features a veritable who's-who of stars playing the great and good (and bad!) of the punk rock scene which centred on the venue in the 1980s. Justin Bartha plays Stiv Bators (of Dead Boys), Malin Akerman plays Blondie lead singer Debbie Harry, Mickey Sumner plays Patti Smith, Rupert Grint plays the Dead Boys guitarist Cheetah Chrome, Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins is Iggy Pop with Alan Rickman as the legendary Hilly Kristal, the founder of CBGB. The film, directed by Randall Miller ("Bottle Shock"), will be out later this year and a collection of ten neon-colored posters (via Hollywood Reporter), as well as a handful of stills from the movies, give some strong hints as to what kind of movie we're in for.

Persistence pays off it would seem. To date, celebrated actor Alan Rickman only has one feature film directing credit to his name, 1997's "The Winter Guest," and while we've yet to see a sophomore effort, it hasn't been for lack of trying. Rickman has had a couple of projects percolating over the years, but the one that he's stuck with has been "A Little Chaos." It looks like his determination has finally yielded some results, with two great actors on board and a start date in sight.

Of all the genres to try and pull off, the romantic caper flick -- think "To Catch A Thief," or "Charade," or even "Ocean's Eleven" -- is one of the trickiest. For such a film to work out, it's got to be as light as a feather and feel entirely effortless, and all too many films aiming to hit that sweet spot end up feel entirely effort-ful. But if anyone feels like they might be suited to that sort of thing, it would be the Coen Brothers, who penned the script for the remake of a minor classic of the genre, the 1966 Michael Caine/Shirley MacLaine film "Gambit." Have they pulled off?

For the second year in a row, it seems that we won't be getting a new Coen Brothers film. The directors had been especially prolific in recent years, with four films in four years between "No Country For Old Men" and "True Grit," but producer Scott Rudin confirmed a while back that it was unlikely that their latest, "Inside Llewlyn Davis," would be ready in time for release in 2012, despite the hopes of many. We suspect we won't see the film until Cannes next year at the earliest, but fans should take heart: a project that the brothers had a hand in will be surfacing over the next few months.

Alan Rickman is, as we're sure you're aware at this point, one of our finest actors. From "Die Hard" and "Truly Madly Deeply" to the 'Harry Potter' series, he's consistently stolen the show in the finest tradition of British character actors. Now that the Potter franchise has wrapped up, Rickman's got a bit more time on his hands, and after wrapping "Gambit" with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz, has just signed on, according to the Hollywood Reporter, to "CBGB," a biopic of Hilly Krystal, who founded the seminal New York City punk club, for writer/directors Randall Miller and Jody Savin, with whom Rickman worked previously on "Bottle Shock."

Plus Earth-Shattering, Game-Changing First Look At The FilmAre you a young filmmaker, slowly coming to the realization that the film you've been sweating over for months, if not years, isn't quite going to be what you hoped, even before you start filming. There's one simple solution. Cast Stanley Tucci. Scientifically proven to make every film 15% better, the veteran character actor doesn't just shine in good films, like "The Devil Wears Prada" and "Easy A," but he also proves the few spots of pleasure in terrible ones, like "The Core," "The Lovely Bones" and "Burlesque."

As if a movie starring Colin Firth and directed by Michael Hoffman wasn't classing up the joint enough already, the Coen Brothers-scribed remake of "Gambit" is bringing on two more Brit veterans to show everyone how it's done.
