It's been quite a year for Anne Hathaway, and for any actress, toplining (and some would argue stealing the show) Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" would have been more than enough. But the actress just hosted "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend (featuring that Rihanna performance against a desktop screensaver from seven years ago) and is getting into the Oscar fray with "Les Misérables." And next year? If all goes according to plan, she'll be working with a guy you may have heard of named Steven Spielberg.

It seems everyone wants a piece of "Thor" star Chris Hemsworth these days. Steven Spielberg is rounding him up for "Robopocalypse," Universal is eager for more 'Huntsman' and Ron Howard is revving him up in "Rush." Now, CBS Films is ready to give the actor yet another franchise.

Bruce Willis is having a pretty good year. Ok, so it hasn't exactly been spotless: few people liked "Lay The Favorite" at Sundance, and he's had some near-DTV level cameos in films like "The Expendables 2," this week's "Cold Light of Day" and the genuinely DTV "Fire With Fire" (starring 50 Cent, who seems to be running some kind of sponsorship programme for aging tough-guy actors). But he also gave a lovely, atypical performance in Wes Anderson's "Moonrise Kingdom," and according to early reviews today, including our own, is pretty great in Rian Johnson's "Looper," a film that Willis has described as the best he's ever been in.

The story of CIA operative Mitch Rapp spreads over several books, and CBS Films have spent years trying to use the material for a potential film. Gerard Butler, Colin Farrell and Matthew Fox were previously pursued for "Consent To Kill," which director Antoine Fuqua circled in 2008, but nothing came to pass. Now CBS is starting with a clean slate, with Deadline reporting that Jeffrey Nachmanoff has signed to direct "American Assassin," the eleventh book in the series, but the first chronologically.

Fledgling studio CBS Films has had a bumpy ride. Their releases to date have been a string of poorly received efforts like "Extraordinary Measures," "The Back-Up Plan," "Faster" and "Beastly" but in a bid to play with the big boys, they are hoping to get a franchise off the ground, nabbing an Oscar nominated director to get the ball rolling.
