Last night TV's finest -- which these days tends to include some of movie's finest too -- gathered for the Emmy Awards, while the the rest of us stayed glued to "Breaking Bad" and to some extent, the series finale of "Dexter." Either way, both options were better than that dubstep dance routine to "Breaking Bad" on the awards show. And once the jokes were over, and tributes were finished, some statues were handed out honoring some fine folks.

More rankings! As Oscar prognosticators puzzle, fret and worry over each top ten list that drops, a few patterns are becoming clear -- firstly, everyone loves "Zero Dark Thirty." And secondly, it looks like outside of a couple of categories, Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master" won't be making much of a mark on the Oscar race. And indeed, the AFI shut it out entirely.

As you may know by now, there’s there are some pretty big fans of NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” here at The Playlist, so please ignore us while we excitedly exclaim, “DAYUM Jerry, your WIFE is Christie Brinkley?” That’s Pawnee’s favorite person to pick on, Jerry Gergich (Jim O’Heir), and he has scored himself a pretty nice beau in the former model and Clark Griswold heartthrob Brinkley. EW reports that Jerry’s never-before-seen spouse Gayle, whom he’d apparently kill for a Klondike Bar, will finally be making an appearance – we suppose that explains Jerry’s beautiful daughter Millicent. The former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model is certainly an odd pairing for Jerry, but then again, we did find out he was, um, packing below the waist a little while back, so we’ll wait and see. JERRY’S FAULT!

For weeks, FX has been hinting at the second season of Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck's insanely popular (and just plain insane) "American Horror Story" with a series of bizarre and elliptical teasers. Well, the series returns next week (!) and they have finally started releasing teasers that actually give us a taste of what this new season, subtitled "Asylum" and set largely in a mental institution in the early sixties, is all about. Anyone worried that the series ran out of outrageousness in season one will be soothed by the amount of crazy in this teaser.

This writer wasn’t a huge fan of the first season of the Ryan Murphy-created “American Horror Story,” but if going solely by marketing materials alone, the spooky posters that debuted Tuesday to promote season 2 alone where enough to garner some interest in checking out the new season as it heads to a Briarcliff, Massachusetts mental institution for “American Horror Story: Asylum.”

Whether you think it's lovably ludicrous or ludicrously lovable, there's something undeniably compelling about Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's "American Horror Story." It's first season, which just racked up a whopping seventeen Primetime Emmy nominations, was a rocket-powered fear coaster full of S&M ghouls, marital distrust, and Jessica Lange. Season 2, subtitled "Asylum," is supposed to take a more grounded approach, but by the looks of four new posters, it's still going to be freaky as all get-out.

Since the first announcement of NBC’s move to adapt Thomas Harris’ “Hannibal” to the small screen, we’ve been on the fence, but the show is quickly shaping up to be one to watch. After signing up Mads Mikkelsen to play the titular role opposite Hugh Dancy’s FBI agent Will Graham, the show has now added Laurence Fishburne, last seen on the small screen in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” as “Jack Crawford, the head of the FBI’s behavioral sciences unit.”
