5 Best Spoiled Cameos & Ridiculous Set Photos From 'Anchorman 2'
“We're talking about creating a murderer's row of the best day players ever for 'Anchorman 2,' ” director Adam McKay told The Playlist in an interview last year. “Like having every single one line or three line role, just be someone we just love -- just making sure every day player is a home run." Dude wasn’t kidding. Perhaps you’ve seen some of the set images recently that have spoiled some of the cameos in “Anchorman: The Legend Continues,” perhaps you haven’t. If you want to keep some of these surprises under wraps, then read no further. No really, *spoilers, spoilers ahead* (cue someone in the comments section saying this warning wasn’t enough).

Nicole Kidman doesn't do comedies very often (besides "Stoker" ZING!), but maybe she should, because she can be quite funny. Say what you will about the otherwise horrid "Just Go With It," but Kidman is pretty spot on beside a surprisingly hilarious Dave Matthews. Really. But all of this is just preamble, because it looks like the reach of Ron Burgundy knows no bounds.

Given the secrecy around "Anchorman 2" aka "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," you might think that Christopher Nolan was producing the movie. However, it's a bit surprising that The World's Hardest Interview, Harrison Ford, managed to open up about his role in the movie, in which he reportedly plays a "legendary newsman." And for all he knows, he could wind up not being in sequel at all.

While there has been much talk about "Anchorman 2" aka "Anchorman: The Legend Continues," details on the actual plot have seen somewhat vague and only really addressed in a broader sense of the thematic territory that will apparently find Ron Burgundy swimming in a bigger media arena than he was back in San Diego. But could a plot morsel served out pretty early on turn about to be right on the money?

About a week ago, word start burbling around the interwebs that Meryl Streep was looking to cameo in "Anchorman: The Legend Continues." Speaking with Shortlist, Steve Carell said about his "Hope Springs" co-star: "Meryl Streep told me she was a huge 'Anchorman' fan and she’d love to have a cameo in the sequel. That could be really funny. There are going to be plenty of great cameos in this movie." And while that notion is a fun one to think about, alas, it has not come pass.

'Wonderstone' will premiere even sooner at the SXSW Film Festival, which kicks off this week.

So yeah, just like Frank Vitchard didn't see it coming when his arm got cut off during the news anchor rumble in "Anchorman," nor did we see this. But now that we do, we will dance until the sun rises.

When he was asked straight out earlier this month on the February 8th Empire Podcast (while promoting the UK release of “Wreck-It Ralph”) whether his “Anchorman: The Legend Continues” cameo had been decided on yet, John C. Reilly was very non-committal. “I don’t know that I’m going to be in 'Anchorman 2,' ” he said. “I don’t know that there’s a spot for me or not. I have no idea. I think I’d almost prefer to just be an audience member and just enjoy it and not be part of it. But we’ll see...any chance to work with Will and Adam; I’d be a fool to pass that up.” Well, it looks like that chance has come up, and Reilly has elected not to be a fool and instead film a brief cameo in the highly anticipated sequel.

Among the many, many, many things that made "Anchorman" such a perfectly calibrated comedy was its decision to set it in San Diego. The story of an egotistical man-child newsman could only really work in a city that (at the time) would be considered a small market, where such behaviour could go unchecked as long as professionalism stayed intact when it came to newstime. But of course, bigger and better things were on the horizon for Ron Burgundy as that film ended, and it looks like he'll be saying goodbye to that whale's vagina.

When you think of comedy, you don't immediately think of the name James Marsden. But the actor, perhaps best known for playing Cyclops in the "X-Men" movies, does have a background of laughter that has included most recently "Bachelorette," a stint on "30 Rock" and a role in "Death At A Funeral" among others. And eagle-eyed fans of "Zoolander" also know that he appeared ever so fleetingly as John Wilkes Booth. But now he's gearing up for what will easily be his biggest comedy role yet, and he'll face off against one of the funniest people out there.
