While the prospect of Beyoncé and Andre 3000 covering Amy Winehouse's "Back To Black" has many intrigued, one person who isn't a fan of the whole endeavour is the late singer's father. "I don’t think she brings anything to it," Mitch Winehouse told the Daily Mail. "I wasn’t asked for my permission if they could record it." But he then goes on to clarify that the filmmakers "have got to pay for the privilege, which is what they are doing. I can’t tell you how much it is but it’s a lot of money." So he's down with this if the price is right? Either way, the song has been completed and you can now hear the results.

Aside from the visuals, perhaps the most striking aspect of Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby“ thus far has been the film's music. Luhrmann’s movies, particularly “Romeo + Juliet” and “Moulin Rouge!," have always been known for their lustrous soundtracks, and “The Great Gatsby” is no different in that regard. The xx are among the number of artists rounded up to provide tunes for the movie, and their song “Together,” which was written exclusively for the film, has just been made available to listen to in full. You can check it out below.

It was only a couple of weeks ago that Jay-Z’s role in the music of Baz Luhrmann’s “The Great Gatsby” was clarified. He’s the Soundtrack Executive Producer, and word is starting trickle out on who Hov is bringing with him for the soundtrack of Luhrmann’s flashy adaptation. Hint: He put a ring on it.

As you probably know by now, the Jimi Hendrix estate is not too pleased about the currently filming biopic "All Is By My Side," which features hip hop star Andre 3000 in the lead role. But there isn't much they can do about it. As long as the movie doesn't use any songs by the late, legendary musician -- which they would need to get permission for, and which they don't plan to use anyway -- they can pretty much continue as they wish. But the big question thus far is, if they can't use any Hendrix tunes, just what are they going to use?

Considering how long this has been in development, and the number of similar projects that have fallen by the wayside including a mooted Paul Greengrass directed biopic, and a fictional road trip style movie, we figured the Andre 3000 starring Jimi Hendrix movie was not going to happen. Hell, even as far back as 2008 the actor/rapper himself said, "The funny thing with the biopics [is their uncertainty], I mean, it’s the same thing with ‘Hendrix.’ It’s kinda like, until you are on set doing it you can’t say what’s going on, because everybody wants to do the movie, but there are so many things that go into a biopic.” Well, it looks like the movie is actually going ahead.

There's probably no project more difficult to mount in Hollywood than a music biopic. Not only do you have to distill the life of a musician into a reasonable running time, there is also a web of music clearances, estate approval and other myriad legalities that need to be navigated before you can get a film off the ground. And no musician has faced a rockier ride to the big screen than Jimi Hendrix.
