So, this week Uwe Boll's new film "Assault On Wall Street" comes out and predictably, it's terrible. But it does mean the ever quotable Boll is now doing interviews, and with the revelation this week that the CIA had a bigger hand in shaping "Zero Dark Thirty" than previously thought, Boll's insights into that film have very slightly more resonance, though they are still kinda bonkers, too.

One could suggest that we and other pundits have exhausted the conversation around the 85th Academy Awards. We might not argue with that, but while we've had plenty of opportunities to examine the surprises, the snubs, the show itself, both its best/worst moments and how it can improve, we personally haven't looked closely at why the outcomes landed where they did (you can see the full list of winners here). And now that the dust has settled, we wanted to analyze why "Argo" won Best Picture and take a general deeper dive into some of the winners.

Oscars: Watch The Full 85th Academy Awards Show In Its Entirety

Missed the 85th Academy Awards last night for some reason? Not into it? Just sort of put off by Seth MacFarlane's perennially self-satisfied and smug smirk? Perhaps you watched, but went to bed during the 6th hour when you knew there were still 45 nominations to go? We can't fault you either way, but in case you happened to miss the show -- the full list of winners is here -- or just got sick of how longwinded and or overly musical it was, you can watch the entire thing on Hulu. Hell, we won't even spoil it for you in case you missed it, but if you did, we warn you, it was long, erratically paced (slow and then hurried and then slow again) and the jokes were funny and then they weren't. Inconsistency was the name of the game.

2013 Oscars: 'Argo' Wins Best Picture & 3 Awards; 'Life Of Pi' Wins 4 Including Best Director For Ang Lee

Well, that's a wrap. The two bigger winners of the night were "Argo," which one the coveted Best Picture award and three awards total, and "Life of Pi," which took home the most statuettes of the evening including Best Director for Ang Lee (which we called in our predictions). The one relative "surprise" of the night early on (though a late groundswell started in recent weeks) was Christoph Waltz for "Django Unchained," beating out Robert De Niro and Tommy Lee Jones. But the show was a brutally longwinded snore and the musical segments didn't help. Host Seth MacFarlane had mixed results, but fared better than we expected and had a few admittedly killer jokes. All and all though, pacing wise, it was a crushingly slow and laborious show. More analysis tomorrow, this thing tired us out.

You know that great scene in “Argo," the one towards the end in the airport? Oh, spoilers for "Argo" coming up here, by the way. The scene we’re talking about is probably the most tense in a movie positively brimming with tension, where Scoot McNairy’s character comes through at the last minute and shows the airport security guards the artwork from their fake movie, saving the group’s collective bacon in the process. Well here’s a treat for the movie’s fans ahead of a weekend where "Argo" will probably be treated to a Best Picture Oscar itself, because the original artwork for the real fake movie (this is getting confusing, isn’t it) have surfaced.

If you had told us a year ago that a Michael Haneke directed film about the death of an elderly woman would become a contender for Best Picture, Best Foreign Lanuage Film, Best Actress and Best Director at the Oscars, we would've said you were crazy. But the provocateur's difficult, but touching and human film has managed to resonate far and wide, and while France's César Awards have pretty much zero bearing on the Oscars, it's interesting to see that Haneke's work has been just as recognized.

15 Thrillers From The ‘70s You May Not Know

Sporting the old '70s Warner Bros. logo off the top (much like "Magic Mike" did earlier in the year), Ben Affleck's "Argo" spells out its throwback intentions right from minute one -- this is going to be a picture in the mold of the '70s thriller, often coming with strong political bent. Affleck's movie is also part Hollywood satire which trades in some loose and from the hip Hal Ashby tenors, but at the end of the day, the movie is a CIA thriller with a political nature that has upset both modern day Iranian and Canadian governments.

We're now in the final seven days of the 2012/2013 awards season. This time next week we'll be bleary eyed, a little hungover, and probably quite ready to never see Seth MacFarlane tell another joke about "Django Unchained" for the rest of our lives. But there's still been some time to squeeze in some precursor awards, and after the Eddies on Saturday, last night saw the last major pre-Oscars ceremony, in the shape of the final of the four big guilds, the Writers' Guild of America.
