Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice
As it usually goes with superhero movies, everyone has an opinion not only about "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice," but also Warner Bros. plans for the DC Cinematic Universe, Zack Snyder's capabilities as a director and Ben Affleck suiting up to play an older version of Bruce Wayne. Veterans of conventional Hollywood films like Affleck could probably stand to be prepared for the onslaught of Wifi enabled commentary, and he says the studio girded him for the inevitable backlash that would come when he signed up for the part.

Zack Snyder Superman Aquaman
Nothing is official, and no one at Warner Bros. is going to say anything until they're damn well ready to, but Aquaman is expected to show up somewhere in the studio's massive slate of DC movies. As for the character himself, outside of comic book circles, it's safe to say the general public doesn't really know much about him, except that Vinnie Chase had arc around starring in a James Cameron-directed "Aquaman" in "Entourage." But when the Detroit (where "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" is shooting) based radio station The Ticket apparently "disparaged" the character, Snyder himself called in.

Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice
This week, Warner Bros. threw a massive cinematic Batsignal into the sky. Not only did they shift "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" ahead to March 25, 2016, and away from "Captain America 3," but they they also unveiled an ambitious slate of superhero movie dates through 2020. You can bet that if they weren't before, Marvel is looking over their shoulder. And while it was inevitable someone would blink when 'Batman' and 'Captain' were both scheduled on the same date, WB president of domestic distribution Dan Fellman explains the studio's strategic move to spring.

Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice
It was the biggest pissing match of 2016: both Warner Bros. and Marvel put their big money tentpoles—"Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" and "Captain America 3"—on the same date, May 6, 2016. Both refused to budge, but as expected, there was no way two major superhero movies were going to open on the same day, and WB has blinked first.

Since we have nothing else to go on for now, "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice" will continue to ride mostly on speculation. Yesterday, set footage revealed lots of mega-destruction on the horizon for the movie, but today there are some new rumblings about the characters, in particular Ben Affleck's Batman.

Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice
While this weekend's "Guardians Of The Galaxy" has been widely praised for being fun, fresh and inventive, the Marvel movie can't help but cling to the most tired trope of the contemporary blockbuster. For all of its outer space action, wacky characters and irreverent humor, the climax of the movie still puts an entire city at peril, with enormous spaceships falling from the sky and crash landing into the metropolis below. This regrettable tentpole staple occurs in Joss Whedon's universally beloved 2012 "The Avengers" as well as this summer's rather less breezy "Transformers: Age Of Extinction." And "Man Of Steel" climaxed with an interminable punchfest between Superman and General Zod, finding the former, characterized for eight decades as a selfless defender of humanity, utterly indifferent to the ensuing destruction and death rained upon the citizens of Metropolis. And it looks like 'MOS' director Zack Snyder, the man entrusted with the future of the still developing DC Cinematic Universe, isn't done laying waste to urban environments.

You want to talk "faster than a speeding bullet?" Warner Bros. kicked off their Hall H Comic-Con Panel unveiling details of “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” yet the super-heroic promotion was over in about 10 minutes. The drive by event consisted of essentially three elements. First, Zack Snyder appeared onstage to reveal photos – including a first look at Gal Gadot in full Wonder Woman armor (which you can see below). Second, Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman) and Gadot joined Snyder onstage. Then a brief teaser reel from the movie was screened. And that was that.

The writing narrative around “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is a fascinating one that hasn’t really come to full light yet, but it’ll be interesting to hear what happened when all the filmmakers are ready to talk. You’ll remember Zack Snyder and co. originally had a May, 2015 release date in mind and as early as October of last year, the filmmaker was shooting some kind of football game scene that involved a team from Gotham (Batman’s digs) and Metropolis (obviously the home to Superman). It all seemed like full steam ahead.

While Kevin Feige has enough to talk about when it comes to the forthcoming "Guardians Of The Galaxy," it seems much of his press time of late has been spent explaining what the heck has been going on with "Ant-Man." And then over his shoulder are his rivals at D.C. Comics who coming hard in 2016 with "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice." But Feige feels no ill toward his fellow purveyors of comic book cinema, and he credits the success they've achieved so far.
