Have we all recovered from the Oscars? I'm still steamed about Billy Crystal's blackface, but really, it's the horrible, groan-inducing jokes that were the most offensive of all. I just like to fantasize about the Tilda/Charlize/Fassbender crazy Oscar party they must have had together. That would be the place to watch! But now it's March, so awards season is over, and we must move on to new and greener pastures. You know what they say about March, in like a "Lorax" out like a lamb. Right? Something like that. This weekend, "The Lorax" ushers in spring with a little ecology lesson, and "Project X" ushers in SPRING BREAK, WOO! We've also got curiosity "Tim and Eric's Billion Dollar Movie," somehow being released in theaters, Jafar Panahi's house arrest doc "This Is Not A Film" and plenty of other selections in our First Weekend of March Cornucopia.

Paul Dano certainly has been lacking in talented on screen sparring partners, and over the years he's impressively shared screen time with Daniel Day-Lewis ("There Will Be Blood"), Steve Carell ("Little Miss Sunshine"), Tom Cruise ("Knight And Day") and Harrison Ford ("Cowboys And Aliens") but in "Being Flynn," he works with the most celebrated actor of them all: Robert De Niro. In the adaptation of the memoir "Another Bullshit Night In Suck City," Dano plays his son, long estranged from his father, who crosses paths with him at the homeless shelter where he works, forcing the pair to face their past.

Deconstructing the career of director Paul Weitz can be difficult, as he's never moved in a singular direction, going from comedies ("American Pie," "Little Fockers") to satire ("American Dreamz") to dramedy ("In Good Company," "About A Boy") to fantasy ("Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assisant"). His latest is the drama "Being Flynn," an adaptation of the celebrated memoir "Another Bullshit Night In Suck City" by Nick Flynn, that centers on a young man (Paul Dano) who works at various homeless shelters in Boston, and spots his estranged father (Robert De Niro) seeking a bed one night, leading him to face his past.

Here’s the old, but good news in case you forgot: Damon Gough – aka, knit-cap wearing singer-songwriter Badly Drawn Boy – reteamed with director Paul Weitz to compose the songs for his upcoming adaptation of Nick Flynn's memoirs, "Another Bullshit Night In Suck City," retitled “Being Flynn” for the big screen.

While it's a drag that the title of the novel it's based off of -- "Another Bullshit Night In Suck City" -- couldn't stick for the big screen adaptation, things are looking good for "Being Flynn." The first trailer that dropped last fall was a pleasant surprise, promising a solid dramatic diversion this spring from the various tentpoles that will be hurled our way at the multiplex.

It's pretty easy to be hard on Robert De Niro these days, given his ratio of good/bad tends to be wildly uneven, but every once in a while he seems to pull out a decent movie. Last year's "Stone" was tremendously underrated by most, and featured a pretty terrific turn by De Niro and this latest effort looks like a return to the form that we often forget the actor has. Asking yourself why you haven't heard of it? Well, perhaps you remember it as the adapation of Nick Flynn's acclaimed memoir "Another Bullshit Night In Suck City."
