The Fifth Estate Bill Condon
As the old song goes, it's nice work if you can get it, and Bill Condon must be glad his phone was ringing at all. With "The Fifth Estate" getting middling reviews, and serving as one of the worst wide release openings of the year, the writer/director has licked his wounds and already landed a new gig, albeit one where he'll working with a pen instead of a megaphone.

Yes, "Ben-Hur" is getting a remake because Hollywood can't leave well enough alone, and all we know about this new project thus far is that it will center on the "formative years" of Judah Ben-Hur and Messala, leading up to the moment in which the latter betrays the former, selling him into slavery which (eventually) leads to revenge and chariot races. And because Bible stories are so hot right now (Darren Aronofsky's "Noah," Ridley Scott's "Exodus"), there will also be a plot thread involving Jesus Christ, who meets up with Ben-Hur at various points throughout the film. Well, now the project is looking for a director, and apparently, the guy responsible for "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" is being considered.

5 Most Expensive Movies
This very day, (counting from the original U.S. release date) Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s infamous “Cleopatra” turns 50, thereby outliving by over a decade the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt herself. As a film, “Cleopatra” has many claims to fame -- the first teaming of subsequent real-life spitfire couple Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor; a multi-Oscar-winning epic of dubious historical accuracy; a film whose slimmest cut runs a whopping 192 minutes. But mainly it’s still known for being very, very expensive to make.

New year, same old Hollywood. We're officially two weeks into 2013, and the first stomach churning reboot news has surfaced. William Wyler's 11 Oscar winning "Ben-Hur" (tied with "Titanic" and "The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King" as the only film to accomplish that feat) is now getting a reboot. Why? Mostly because they can.
