No, this isn't Matthew Wilder‘s “Inferno” that was famously going to have Lindsay Lohan in the lead role, but now is toplined by Malin Akerman and Matt Dillon. Instead, this is the competing project by “Howl” and “The Celluloid Closet” directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman that at one point was courting Kate Hudson and James Franco (who've both moved on), and had Olivia Wilde taking a look during the summer. It has now cast up, and the talent on board is pretty strong.

While he's taking a rare detour into straight up genre territory with the thriller "Savages," Oliver Stone is making a return to the familiar world of power and intrigue that has dominated the bulk of his work. From "Wall Street" (x2), "W.," "Nixon," "JFK" and "Alexander" to documentaries "Commandante" and "South of the Border," the director has never found a shortage of material with which to engage in his fascination of men, corruption, politics and power, and once again, he's found another film to exercise those themes.

There is no greater arthouse bromance right now than the one between director Steve McQueen and actor Michael Fassbender. The duo first paired up on "Hunger," which brought them both some considerable attention, and this year they are dominating the fall movie chatter with the NC-17 sex-addiction drama "Shame." They've already lined up their next collaboration, "Twelve Years A Slave," which also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, and now one of the biggest actors in the world is lining up to join them.

Aaron Eckhart To Play Beach Boys Member Dennis Wilson In Biopic 'The Drummer'

At the end of last year, director Randall Miller and writer Jody Savin -- the duo behind the 2008 wine world comedy “Bottle Shock” -- announced they had begun development on two music centered movies. The first was an untitled film about the early days of American punk rock centered around the famed club CBGBs, while the other was “The Drummer: The Story of Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys," which should be fairly self explanatory. The plan was for the CBGBs to go in front of the cameras first over the summer, but as things usually go in Hollywood, plans change and it now looks like the latter movie will gear up instead.

'360' Director Came Close To Making 'Collateral'; Says He's Out Of Janis Joplin BiopicFernando Meirelles might not have yet topped his incredible debut, "City of God," but even in his less satisfying work, like his 2008 picture "Blindness," there are enough brilliant directorial choices to make it more than worth watching. Since he broke through internationally, he’s taken on a diverse array of projects that have been offered to him, but when we spoke to the director yesterday ahead of his latest film, “360,” opening the BFI London Film Festival, he confirmed that for the first time since his favela epic, he’s developing something from scratch, and intends to shoot next year.

John Singleton May Take The Director's Seat For 'Tupac'

It has been a long time since John Singleton has made a film that lived up to his early work like "Boyz N The Hood" or "Higher Learning." His last effort was the dismal and lamebrained Taylor Lautner vehicle "Abduction," and while for a brief moment it seemed he would be taking on "Straight Outta Compton," the biopic of N.W.A., he was quickly pushed out with a different trio of filmmakers in the running for the gig (apparently Craig Brewer is favored though it will depend on how well (or not) "Footloose" does this weekend). But the director has rebounded and is now circling another hip hop story that he is just as well suited for as the N.W.A. flick and one that should hopefully be a return to his former glory.

Antoine Fuqua Once Again Exits 'Tupac' Biopic, Takes On 'Hunter Killer'

It has been on again, off again, on again and now, off again for Antoine Fuqua and the forever gestating "Tupac" biopic. Earlier this summer, it was reported that the director was dropping out of directing the movie in favor of doing the Eminem boxing movie "Southpaw." But then, just over a week later, production company Morgan Creek, signed Fuqua to a pay-or-play deal to keep him on the movie and show their commitment to getting the project made. Well, "Southpaw" was dropped by DreamWorks, "Tupac" still hasn't found a lead, and Fuqua is ready to work.
