The Great Gatsby, Joel Edgerton
Has Aussie actor Joel Edgerton become Hollywood's new it-man? He turned heads with a jerk in 2010's crime thriller, "Animal Kingdom" (we immediately took notice) and gained further acclaim for his toe to toe role with Tom Hardy in the underloved MMA drama "Warrior." Directors of note also took notice. Kathryn Bigelow cast him for a small but important role in "Zero Dark Thirty," and he arguably stole the show from Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and the rest of the cast in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby." So what's next for an encore? Two plum roles in two major projects everyone's keeping a close eye on.

Okay, so this isn't exactly news if you've been keeping up, but with Johnny Depp generally commiting to a thousand projects all at once, it can difficult to shake out his schedule. But the actor's reps have cleared his calendar and revealed the two movies that will be taking up the bulk of his time in 2013. And neither of them involve the name Jack Sparrow.

While there's another "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movie on the way, it seems that Johnny Depp is swashbuckling Jack Sparrow style off-screen as well. Much to the surprise of Terry Gilliam, the actor has put his own "Don Quixote" project into development at Disney, and now he's joining another project that has a rival movie on the same subject brewing, with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.
