What people forget is that while the WB flexes their muscle, Marvel still has a ridiculously untapped listing of characters, both over at Disney as well as other studios like Fox, Universal and Sony.Marvel’s always going to outnumber and outmuscle them in some ways. The WB can only work on making their movies successful on their own terms.

Kevin Feige's job not only requires him to ensure that the current crop of Marvel movies make it to the big screen the way the studio wants, but he also has to keep an eye on how things are developing on projects years off in the distance. And part of that means trying to stay a step ahead of the competition who are quickly moving to copy the Marvel playbook. One of the big showdowns on the calendar arrives on May 5, 2016 when Warner Bros. will drop their "Man Of Steel" sequel opposite an as-yet-unannounced Marvel movie. But if someone is going to blink and move, it won't be Feige.

“We’ve already started discussions with Scarlett [Johansson] about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but ‘The Avengers’ comes first.” Marvel chief Kevin Feige said in 2010 about a solo Black Widow movie, the spy character that in “Iron Man 2” and “The Avengers.” In 2011 he added, "There's no definitive plans, but we have started talking and talking with Scarlett Johansson about what a Widow movie could be.”
