10 Things We Learned From The 2014 Golden Globes
If you're a salesperson of aspirin, raw eggs or hair-of-the-dog booze in Hollywood, today is a good day for you: it's the morning after the Golden Globes, otherwise known as the single most hungover day in the Hollywood calendar. The night that truly kicks off the two-month-long season of awards ceremonies, all leading up to the Oscars at the start of March, its reputation is as one that not many take seriously, but everyone treats as a bit of a party, with some gloriously decadent shenanigans taking place over the years.

Inside Llweyn Davis
Could "Inside Llewyn Davis" have a few more songs left in its awards season campaign? After a week that left its Oscar prospects in serious question, after being shut out by both the PGA and WGA nominations, the latest from the Coens has scored some big honors at the National Society Of Film Critics Awards.

David O. Russell, American Hustle, Playlist exclusive
Are awards season voters no longer entranced by the magic of the Coen Brothers? Even with "Inside Llewyn Davis" earning no shortage of acclaim, that has not translated into very much love from awards types, with the film getting completely shut out of the Producers Guild Award nominations yesterday. And today, the Writer's Guild have also shunned the sibling duo.

12 Years A Slave
While we’re mostly celebratory around these parts, a considerable aspect of our year-end cinematic reflections has been dredging up those unspeakable films long since forgotten for one final verdict—think “Violet and Daisy,” “I Give It A Year," or “The Big Wedding." We compiled our 20 favorite abominations here, but elsewhere head film critic of Paper Magazine Dennis Dermody has aimed for more awards-centric fare with his list, and ended up with director Steve McQueen’s work in his sights.

Spring Breakers
With one movie to promote heavily on both sides of the pond ("The World's End") and another major franchise movie gearing up ("Ant-Man"), that Edgar Wright had time to keep watching films enough to put together a top ten of 2013 is pretty impressive. But it comes with a caveat: like many folks, the last-month crush of films makes it hard to catch up with everything, so be forewarned, this list was compiled with Wright, at the time of putting it together, having not yet seen a handful of movies including "12 Years A Slave," "Dallas Buyers Club" or "American Hustle" (all of which open in the U.K. in 2014).

Inside Llewyn Davis
Such is the awards season that just as your getting ready to wind things down on the west coast, or already in bed on the east coast, the honors keep coming. And the latest is from north of the border, with critics in Toronto weighing in on their faves of the year.

First! Once again, the New York Film Critics Circle made filmmakers and studios sweat to get their films screened in time as they position themselves to be the first (official) word on the awards race and augur of things to come ... at least until the National Board Of Review weighs in tomorrow. But for now, it looks like David O. Russell's "American Hustle" is the one to beat over the next couple of months.

Spring Breakers
There are top ten lists, and then there are top ten lists by John Waters. Each year, everyone's favorite cult filmmaker delivers his list to Artforum, and it's usually a surprising blend of arthouse oriented pictures and left field surprises.

Quentin Tarantino’s Top 10 Films of 2013 (So Far) Includes 'The Lone Ranger,' 'Kick-Ass 2,' 'Gravity' & More

For the past couple of years—except 2013 when he was working on his own "Django Unchained"—Quentin Tarantino wasn't shy about sharing the films he liked, and sometimes, the ones he didn't. For the most part, the filmmaker loves indie movies, animated films and big, popcorn blockbusters. In 2010, he was really into kids' flicks with "Toy Story 3,""Tangled" and "How To Train Your Dragon" sitting alongside "The Social Network," "True Grit" and "Animal Kingdom." In 2011, fare like "Attack The Block," "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes," "Moneyball" and uh, "The Three Musketeers" were name-dropped while he controversially gave Nicolas Winding Refn's "Drive" a "nice try" dig. So what does he like so far in 2013?
