Breathe In, Felicity Jones
Intimate, expressive, agonizing and beautifully rendered, director Drake Doremus' third feature-length effort, "Breathe In," will be familiar to those that know the indie filmmaker's small, but already distinctive oeuvre. While similar in tone and style, his latest effort is like the darker cousin to Dormeus' wistful relationship drama "Like Crazy," possessing an intensity and tension that's emotionally bruising.

Breathe In Drake Doremus Felicity Jones
At the ripe old age of (almost) 31, writer/director Drake Doremus already has an enviable filmography, including festival favorites “Douchebag” and “Like Crazy,” the latter of which introduced American audiences to the charms of one Felicity Jones. If that’s not enough to give aspiring filmmakers apoplexy, his latest film, “Breathe In”—which premiered at Sundance in 2013—opens this week, and his next feature, “Equals,” is already brewing, starring Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult in a futuristic setting (though Doremus is not quite ready to talk about it yet).

Breathe In
Last year at the Sundance Film Festival, we noted that Drake Doremus' "Breathe In" was "one of the most emotionally poignant and heartbreaking movies" that screened in Park City. And if the film starring Guy Pearce, Felicity Jones and Amy Ryan may have fallen off your radar, be prepared to put it back on because it's not headed to theaters and it's one you'll want to make room for.

12 Films To See In March
The dolorous effects of winter are slowly, ever so slowly, making way for the bright world of spring. Until then, and especially if you’re in one of the regions still covered in snow, you’re probably spending quite a bit of time at the local multiplex. Since February was so short we’re adding an additional two movies to tide you over this month, so hopefully you’ll have a backlog of entertainment for when you can come out of hibernation.

Breathe In
Director Drake Doremus may next head to sci-fi realms in order to explore his unique angle on romance and relationships, but while that project gears up there’s still the matter of his third feature film, “Breathe In," for stateside audiences. A full year after the Guy Pearce/Felicity Jones drama debuted at Sundance and then bowed theatrically in the U.K. that summer, a new U.S. trailer has landed to tease what we’ve been missing from the “Like Crazy” helmer.

20 Best 2014 Films We've Already Seen
The more OCD among us here at Playlist Towers find it a source of constant aggravation that release dates vary so much from territory to territory, and festivals often get premieres a full 18-or-so months before a film gains a proper U.S. release, that doing a cut-and-dried list of any given year’s movies becomes less science than art. And while it’s an art that has already yielded our first magnum opus of the year, the 100 Most Anticipated Movies Of 2014, (and we should probably be awarded the rest of January off as a result) there’s still a category of film we’ve left unmined: those movies that we saw and reviewed in 2013 at festivals or sneak screenings or parts foreign that won’t be in theaters until 2014.

Felicity Jones, The Invisible Woman
As our own Oli Lyttleton pointed out in his under/over selections, Ralph Fiennes (starring and directing) has a new movie coming out this month that is really quite brilliant and barely anybody is talking about. And that film is "The Invisible Woman." It's based on the real-life affair Charles Dickens had with a young actress who served the author in one of his theatrical productions, and is based on the nonfiction book (of the same title) by Claire Tomalin. We were lucky enough to get a chance to talk to the Invisible Woman herself, Felicity Jones, about what it was like playing this forgotten historical figure, what additional research she did on her own, and whether or not she can tell us anything about what she's up to in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2."

It's safe to say that writer/director Drake Doremus knows his way around complicated romances and relationships. From the long distance pangs of "Like Crazy," to the fantastical urges of "The Beauty Inside" (watch it in full here), to the domestic heat of "Breathe In," he's turned over the tangles of men and women in a variety of satisfying set-ups, and now he's looking to change up the game. Currently doing press rounds in the U.K. to promote "Breathe In" which is now in theatres there, Doremus revealed his next movie will take his preoccupations to a whole other realm.

Let's say when you were younger you played in a rock 'n roll band that was modestly successfully, but that life was traded in for a stable job, marriage, children and life in the suburbs. Would you want to revisit that old spark of youth, or is the enriching life of family enough to make up for that gap? That's one of the central questions in "Breathe In," the new drama from "Like Crazy" writer/director Drake Doremus. And another new peek at the movie has arrived.

Breathe In, Felicity Jones
Desire can be a dangerous thing, and when mixed with feelings that your life is stuck in a rut, it can explode into something unexpectedly potent. And it's this idea that rides at the core of "Breathe In," the new drama from "Like Crazy" writer/director Drake Doremus. The movie is getting ready to roll into U.K. cinemas and a clip has arrived offering a peek at the simmering relationship between music teacher and married man Keith (Guy Pearce) and exchange student Sophie (Felicity Jones).
