After the recently released "Van Helsing"-ish trailer for the troubled "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters" comes word that Vin Diesel is being courted for an incredibly similar-sounding Lionsgate-Summit movie called "The Last Witch Hunter," according to The Wrap. The movie, originally set to be directed by "Wanted"/"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" director Timur Bekmambetov, will now be helmed by Breck Eisner, who last directed the somewhat underappreciated "Crazies" remake. Must be the season of the witch, huh?

Whoever wants a "Stretch Armstrong" movie, raise your hands! We're waiting....yeah....that's what we thought...nobody. While Universal paid millions to get our of their deal with Hasbro to make movies based on their toys, Relativity thinks that audiences will want to see a big screen take on the famed stretchy figure that mostly ends up in the back of closets, collecting dust, and forgotten about. And while their enthusiasm is admirable, they honestly could not pick a worse and less inspired choice to direct this thing.

After losing out on directing "Ouija" to McG -- a decision that must have surely kept him up nights -- and with the remake of "Escape From New York" seemingly stalled, director Breck Eisner is looking for something to do and it looks like he's ready to jump on a bewitching new project (sorry).

Spirit, Please Come Forward And Cancel This Movie When it was announced that the second Hasbro property after the gates, following Peter Berg's actioner "Battleship," would be "Ouija," based on the board game that's been succesfully freaking out teenagers for decades, most, including us, assumed it would be some kind of teen horror flick -- after all, the likes of "Drag Me To Hell" and "Long Time Dead" have used the system as a conceit within the horror genre. But Universal have given the film a key tentpole slot, on November 9th, 2012, and we began to suspect that the film might be aiming at more quadrants than simply horror fans. And indeed, that seems to be the case.

After breaking out into the big leagues with his stunning performance in last year's Best Picture winner, "The Hurt Locker," Jeremy Renner has become one of the most in-demand names around. He gave an equally great performance in Ben Affleck's "The Town," before signing on to join Tom Cruise in "Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol," the indie-noir "Better Living Through Chemistry" and to play Hawkeye in "The Avengers," as well as being linked to projects like "The Raven," "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" and Paul Thomas Anderson's "The Master."
