You're not going to have Brett Ratner to kick around anymore. At least not for the next little while. After a disastrous press tour for "Tower Heist" which found the helmer managing to offend as many people as possible, Ratner stepped down from his role as the producer of this year's Oscar ceremony in order to "learn from this experience." But he's also a busy man, and this downtime will allow him to focus on a number of projects he has in the works including a new film with Eddie Murphy and the spy drama "Hunting Eichmann," but it seems he has another we haven't heard of before.

If you've ever wondered what a Brett Ratner produced Oscar telecast would be like, well, you're probably never going to find out. While we eagerly awaited to see how Chris Tucker would be utilized in the broadcast in February, it looks like the words coming out the mouth of Ratner have rubbed the shrimp loving folks of the Academy the wrong way. THR has revealed that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has ousted Ratner from producing the telecast has accepted Ratner's decision to step down from the gig. An open letter explaining his decision is forthcoming.

Brett Ratner has never been shy of making his appreciation of the female form known, and when it comes to his own junk, the director is his own biggest fan. So who can blame him when can't remember the name of somebody he slept with?

And More From The Director & Cast Of The High Concept ComedyIn Brett Ratner’s “Tower Heist,” Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy lead an ensemble cast in a story of wronged hotel employees who decide to seek revenge against a ruthless financial world maven who has run off with their pensions. A comedy, heist flick and even a triumphant middle finger to the swindlers that put many out of house and home (though the filmmakers say the ties to current events were unintentional), the film is a crowd-pleasing confection about the little guys finally getting one over on those in authority. A solid supporting cast including Alan Alda, Tea Leoni, Casey Affleck, Matthew Broderick and more help bring the story, a distinctly New York City-set tale, to life.

For a guy who is pals with Roman Polanski, is housemates with James Toback, has produced documentaries on John Cazale and Woody Allen and is a great lover of cinema, Brett Ratner's oeuvre has been ridiculously milquetoast. But then again, making movies that are About Things and have even a whiff of artistry, don't allow you to hang with Paris Hilton and publish books of tasteful nude photography. But since he's producing the Oscars this year, we suppose he's feeling it's about time to direct a movie that has a possibility of getting nominated for one.

It’s been a while since chubby megalomaniac Brett Ratner deigned to bother the film world with his mirthless blitherings behind the camera, but with the decidedly non-revolutionary “Tower Heist” hitting theatres in the proximate future, the bolshie “Rush Hour 3” director seemingly can’t keep his trap shut.

Also Says His Oscar Night Incident After Losing To Alan Arkin Was Misunderstood"We’re not close, but I’m hoping in the next few years there will be one," Brett Ratner recently told Collider about the forever in development "Beverly Hills Cop 4." "Eddie and I are even setting up some more of his ideas. I’m hoping that we have a long, fruitful relationship. We’re both still very young, believe it or not. Eddie’s only 50 years old, so I think we have a little bit of time to come up with a great 'Beverly Hills Cop.'" But it looks like the sand in the hour glass has run out as Eddie Murphy is hanging up the idea of starring in a fourth movie and is looking for a younger Axel Foley to take the adventures to the small screen.
