With his next scoring gig on "47 Ronin" delayed as that film moves yet again, this time to Christmas Day 2013, Atticus Ross has a bit of extra time on his hands. And it looks like he's going to help out an old friend.

Though he's still best known as Coach Eric Taylor on "Friday Night Lights," Kyle Chandler has been taking some much deserved steps onto the big screen. This summer his was one of the biggest names amongst the mostly newcomer cast in J.J. Abrams' "Super 8" and this fall, he's been working on Ben Affleck's forthcoming "Argo." Well, he's lined up one more starry vehicle as he continues to put the yards between himself and the football drama.

There is perhaps no actorly presence more reassuring in Hollywood than that of Jeffrey Wright. An excellent actor, as capable of channeling Basquiat as hanging out with James Bond, it's no surprise he's been courted by a number of high-profile directors over the years including Oliver Stone, Jim Jarmusch, Jonathan Demme, Ang Lee and this year alone, both George Clooney and Stephen Daldry. Well, Wright will once again class up another movie that is already boasting a pretty strong cast.

For a minute back in May of 2000, it looked like Barry Pepper’s career was on life support after starring as Jonnie Goodboy Tyler in the stillborn L. Ron Hubbard sci-fi mega-flop “Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000.” In the years since, John Travolta’s career has recovered (we’ve all seen and loved him in the rhyming double-feature of “Wild Hogs” and “Old Dogs”). Pepper has meanwhile established himself as one of the more reliable supporting players in movies, giving solid performances in films like “25th Hour,” “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” and last year’s “True Grit,” to name a few.

Film Will Square Off Against Arnold Schwarzenegger's 'The Last Stand'While January is generally considered a dumping ground for studio leftovers, don't tell that to Mark Wahlberg. His upcoming thriller "Contraband" is slated for release on January 13, 2012 and it looks like the actor wants to keep starting off your year with a bang, because he's got another film a year later, pretty much right in the same frame.

It's hard to believe, but by the time 2012 rolls it will have been five years since we've seen Catherine Zeta-Jones on the big screen. You have to go back to 2007's middling double whammy of "No Reservations" and "Death Defying Acts" but since then -- and not counting the 2009 comedy "The Rebound" which is stuck in some kind of terminal sales/distributor limbo -- she's been laying low (taking care of her husband, cancer survivor Michael Douglas, and generally being there for her family). But 2011 has seen her quickly ramp up with a trio of projects. She's a got a role in the big '80s musical "Rock of Ages," she's dabbling in comedy with "Playing the Field" with Gerard Butler and she's got a part in Stephen Frears’ gambling pic “Lay the Favorite.” Well, she's adding another movie to her busy dance card.

Earlier this summer, word arrived that Allen Hughes and Mark Wahlberg's long-gestating thriller "Broken City" -- which the actor had been talking up during press rounds for "The Fighter" last fall -- had received $60 million in financing and then...there wasn't much news in a while. But once you got cash to make the movie, the rest of is just putting pieces and players into place, and "Broken City" is now building.

Last year, when Mark Wahlberg was busy on "The Fighter" press circuit, most notably talking up "Uncharted" -- which his best bud David O. Russell has now officially moved on from -- there was one other project he mentioned: "Broken City." Wahlberg said last fall, “there’s this other thing, 'Broken City,' that I want to do at the end of next year with Allen Hughes directing, which is on the Black List. It’s one of the best unproduced screenplays, an amazing piece of material that should attract amazing talent.” Well, it certainly has the money behind it now.

Plan Is For Allen Hughes To Direct The week leading up to Thanksgiving is always a quiet one, and this week was no exception -- there's been very little news to go round. So thank the god of movie blogs for Mark Wahlberg, who seems to have caused about 75% of all news stories this week. He's not in "The Crow!" He is in David O. Russell's "Uncharted!" He thought "The Happening" was a giant piece of shit too! And, even on Turkey Day itself, the artist formerly known as the leader of the Funky Bunch has come through, giving details of a new project he's circling to MTV.
