Beating out a field that included Juno Temple, Lily Collins and Adelaide Kane, the arguably least known of the contenders, Eleanor Tomlinson -- who had small roles in "Alice In Wonderland" and "The Illusionist" -- has landed the role of Isabella, the princess, in "Jack The Giant Killer" according to Deadline.

Adelaide Kane and Eleanor Tomlinson Latest Names Mentioned For Female LeadAfter a pair of scorching lead performances in two Danny Boyle films, "Shallow Grave" and "Trainspotting," it looked as though the world would be Ewan McGregor's oyster -- he was picked by George Lucas to play the key role of the young Obi-Wan in the Star Wars prequels, and it seemed as though a star had been born. But outside of those films, and the role he'll perhaps be best remembered for in future generations, as the lead in "Moulin Rouge" (which this writer believes wouldn't work anywhere near as well without the tonal dexterity displayed by the Scottish actor), he never stuck the landing: for the most part, his Hollywood leads in pictures like "The Island" and "Down With Love" were disappointments, and he made patchy choices away from the tentpole world too -- see, or rather don't, "Stay" and "Incendiary."

Every director wants to make a musical at some point in their lives -- it's one of the great challenges available in the profession, and helmers from Steven Spielberg to Edgar Wright have all expressed an interest in the genre at some stage and now it looks like one more big-name director is set to throw his bowler hat into the ring, albeit in a roundabout way.

Director Matthew Vaughn Says He's Never Felt This Much "Pressure" On Making A MovieOK, this is muuuuuch better. Recent photos of Matthew Vaughn's "X-Men: First Class" leaked on the Internet with the cast in costume and well, they essentially looked like cast off test images from Brett Ratner's "X-Men: The Last Stand" -- definitely not anyone's favorite of the "X-Men" franchise. Heralded as a back-to-basics prequel set in the '60s, the leaked image -- apparently it wasn't ready for public consumption, but once it's out it's out -- seemed to be antithetical to the idea of a group of mutants first finding one another and eventually becoming part of a school of mutants and then a super hero team.

Lilly Collins, Aneurin Barnard & Adelaide Kane Also Vying For Parts In Singer's Modern Day Fairy TaleLooks like those reports that ran earlier this year saying Bryan Singer has been leveraging "Jack The Giant Killer" casting -- his upcoming new project for New Line -- as a way to also look out for "X-Men: First Class" actors -- the Matthew Vaughn-directed project he's producing and wrote the treatment for -- ran both ways.

Matt Bomer Also Joins 'Now'; Max Irons Also In The Mix For 'Giant Killer'When the New York Times reported over the weekend, in the midst of their article about DreamWorks, that Alex Pettyfer, the lead in the upcoming teens-and-aliens flick "I Am Number Four," was being groomed as the next Shia LaBeouf, we believed it. Now Monday morning, the actor has joined one high profile project, is being considered for another and is attached to a developing biopic. Not bad for an actor that until now was best known for playing the lead in "Alex Rider: Stormbreaker."
