If will he or won't he is the question it appears we're good to go. Perhaps he was playing coy, but last week Aussie director Baz Luhrmann ("Australia," "Strictly Ballroom") was telling anyone who asked that he may not direct the adaptation of F. Scott Fizgerald‘s “The Great Gatsby.” “I gotta make a decision in three days’ time, whether to do it or not,” Luhrmann told Vulture last Wednesday.

Aussie Filmmaker Says Decision Should Land This Week About What's NextAustralian visual sensualist and sybarite Baz Luhrmann is a perfectionist. We know this because he generally takes around five years between movies and toiled on an "Alexander The Great" biopic for so excessively that Oliver Stone and a blonde-eyebrow dyed Colin Farrell beat him to the punch in 2004 and the project withered on the vine. He's also only made four films in sixteen years which is basically the same pace as molasses.

We're bordering on giving Nicolas Winding Refn a *** job with all the myriad reports on his work, but what can we say, we admire the Danish filmmakers work ("Bronson," "The Pusher" trilogy, "Valhalla Rising") and his upcoming film "Drive" is very high up on our most anticipated 2011 list. So we'll keep it brief.

So, apparently we've been a little too snarky lately and have been coming off like "haters," so here's a reversal: we're totally excited for Steve McQueen's next effort "Shame" which is being led by two of our favorite thesps, Michael Fassbender and the confirmed Carey Mulligan.

'Rubicon' Star James Badge Dale Also On Board As fans of award-winning-artist-turned-director Steve McQueen's debut feature, 2008's powerful "Hunger," there are few projects we're quite as excited about for 2011 as his sophomore film, "Shame." As announced a few months back, the film will see McQueen reteam with his "Hunger" star Michael Fassbender, in a drama about a sex addict in New York. It will be the first role the actor takes after playing Magneto in "X-Men: First Class,"

This is the logline to "Stoker," the feature-length script debut of actor Wentworth Miller known for his starring role on Fox's now-concluded series "Prison Break."

But Seriously, What's Wrong With Rebecca Hall?Just to give you an idea of how ridiculous casting roundups can be-- just eleven days ago, news broke that Keira Knightley, Amanda Seyfried, Blake Lively, Abbie Cornish, Michelle Williams and Scarlett Johansson were all in the mix to play Daisy in Baz Luhrmann's "The Great Gatsby" with the director apparently keen on Natalie Portman. Fast-forward less than two weeks later and now apparently Carey Mulligan, not named in any previous reports, is the frontrunner. Great job, internet.

So Ridley Scott is apparently done meeting with potential leads for his upcoming "Alien" prequel and surprise, surprise, the list of names in contention for the part is still the same as it has been for the past little while: Noomi Rapace, Carey Mulligan, Abbie Cornish and Natalie Portman.
