Colin Farrell OutIn the works for about a year now, there is a whole lot of fresh movement on "Up In The Air" scribe Sheldon Turner's directorial debut "By Virtue Fall." A fresh cast is now in place, and while one big star who has been circling seems to be on board, one has also departed.

Jena Malone Surprised WB Greenlit The Risky Film, Oscar Isaac Gives Details On Working With 'Mad Genius" Nichols Winding RefnZach Snyder's long gestating, high-concept, ladies-led fantasy project "Sucker Punch" -- one not based on any kind of pre-existing franchise or comic book, but very genre-blending -- has been reported on, speculated about and anticipated for ages, so now that it's finally arriving in theaters this weekend, we'll be curious to see if that interest translates at the box office. Will it turn into "Kick Ass," a beloved genre film that was ignored by mainstream audiences? Or will it turn out like "Watchmen," perhaps not the most successful comic-book adaptation of all time given its budget and the legalities surrounding it (a $107 million dollar domestic gross plus $185 million worldwide off a $130 million dollar budget, minus marketing and a very expensive lawsuit to boot which saw WB handing profit from the film over to Fox) but still, with DVD revenue, nothing to be ashamed of either.

Jim Carrey Mails It In Again In Trailer To 'Mr. Popper's Penguins'

When Richard and Florence Atwater wrote "Mr. Popper's Penguins" in 1938, do you think they expected, one day, it would be a vehicle for an over-the-hill comedian where he teaches the titular creatures to dance to a grating late-twentieth-century pop staple that people only like for ironic reasons? Because that is what the trailer for "Mr. Popper's Penguins" represents. The book has been turned into a big summer release from Fox, that can serve equally as a merchandising opportunity, because what kid isn't going to want their own plush penguin after seeing this saccharine clip?

For months now we've been bombarded with trailers for Zack Snyder's "Sucker Punch." These trailers have been elliptical, at least from a story point of view. Visually, they've been somewhat staggering – quick fire clips of attractive young girls in costumes that border on high-end fetish gear, battling all sorts of mythological or supernatural elements. They dive in between robots, zip underneath monstrous samurais, and face off against towering, fire-breathing dragons.

Review: 'Elektra Luxx' Seems To Exist Only As A Showcase For Carla Gugino

Not That There's Anything Wrong With ThatSebastian Gutierrez’s “Electra Luxx” isn’t so much a sequel to 2009’s “Women in Trouble” as it is a 95-minute love letter to girlfriend and star Carla Gugino. The original film only made $18,000, so it’s difficult to see “Elektra Luxx” as anything other than a labor of love (albeit one with some fun cameos and solid casting) that's pointless to the world outside the couple.

You gotta hand it to director Sebastian Gutierrez ("Women In Trouble," "Elektra Luxx"). He knows that his cinematic oeuvre lies in shooting as many beautiful women in as many skimpy outfits as possible (particularly his longtime ladyfriend Carla Gugino) and he certainly knows how to work a Rolodex, enlisting a bevy stars to feature in his low-budget features that nobody watches. It seems he cranks one of these out every six months, and so, here we go with "Girl Walks Into A Bar."

Our favorite movie of all time -- one that we've even puzzled ourselves with our repeat reportage of -- is Garry Marshall's "New Year's Eve." Or it will be when it eventually comes out.

Penguins, She WroteWe have a small degree of hope that Jim Carrey's upcoming family film "Mr. Popper's Penguins" will have something of value for those of us who can now reach the kitchen sink without having to use a chair. The film already boasts a not-too-shabby cast of Carrey, Carla Gugino, Philip Baker Hall, Ophelia Lovibond, David Krumholtz, Clark Gregg, James Tupper and Andrew Stewart-Jones. Now the esteemed and totally awesome Angela Lansbury has come aboard the project.
