Strap in, because eleven months of marketing begins now. With "The Hunger Games" earning over $680 million worldwide, launching Jennifer Lawrence into the stratosphere and cementing a new tween brand, Lionsgate want those numbers to keep going up. Which is why with a release date set for November, they're starting to get the word out now on the sequel.

Farewell, "Twilight." After four years, and five movies, there are (until the inevitable reboot/spin-off/extra sequel) no longer any movies in the super-popular Stephenie Meyer-penned vampire franchise to look forward to/dread. The final movie, "Breaking Dawn Pt. 2" (our review here) is in theaters, doing the usual blockbuster numbers, but for the near future at least, that's it.

A few musical cues and news today, so let's jump right in. Brit pop star Jessie J has recorded a new song for "Silver Linings Playbook," which takes the usually bland approach of literalizing the characters and themes of a film to a whole new level. Grammy Award-winning songwriter Diane Warren (nominated for six Oscars including Aerosmith's "Don't Want To Miss A Thing" from "Armageddon") has penned "Crazy About You." A movie about two people going through some personal pain that has affected their mental health -- and who fall for each other -- featuring a song called "Crazy About You"? Genius.

Having a short film stick with audiences is a tough row to hoe. For whatever reason they're judged much more harshly than features, and in that respect, they don't even get the benefit of having a super opinionated viewer spread their negative toxins (even the worst feature will warrant a one-star IMDB review -- like they say, “there’s no such thing as bad publicity”). Not to defend the form blindly: they're often nothing more than a calling card or stepping stone to something longer and more expensive, rarely utilizing the short-form structure in an appropriate way or feeling at all complete as its own being.

Given that the first film managed to land heavyweights like Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, Toby Jones and Donald Sutherland, not to mention Oscar-nominated lead Jennifer Lawrence, it's always been clear that "The Hunger Games" franchise wasn't going to have much trouble attracting serious talent. But the enormous success of the first film earlier this year (as well as, crucially, the mostly positive reviews) means that they've been able to step up their game for the sequel, "Catching Fire." Philip Seymour Hoffman has been the biggest name addition, as new gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee, but with the film going before cameras, Lionsgate and director Francis Lawrence have found some time to add another acclaimed actor to the cast.

It's been one of the most sought-after roles in recent Hollywood casting history, one that names like Armie Hammer, Taylor Kitsch, Garret Hedlund and even Robert Pattinson were (mostly erroneously) linked to. And after several months, it's finally been filled, with Lionsgate announcing via a press release that Sam Claflin, the 26-year-old British actor who's so far featured in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" and "Snow White and the Huntsman," has officially signed on to play Finnick Odair in hotly anticipated sequel "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."

Pretty much the hottest directorial job in Hollywood right now is that for "Justice League," the Warner Bros. movie that will team superheroes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash and more. The film is still likely three years away, but the success of "The Avengers" and the end of Christopher Nolan's Batman saga has caused Warners to actively move forward on the project, commissioning a script from "Gangster Squad" writer Will Beall last year. And earlier this week, news leaked out of the director that was their first choice for the project: Ben Affleck.

First, recently renamed Arnold Schwarzenegger project “Breacher” (formerly “Ten”) – which will see the muscleman joined by writer-director David Ayer and co-stars Sam Worthington, Terrence Howard, Joe Manganiello and Dawn Olivieri – has found a way to inject some more estrogen into the project in the form of actress Malin Akerman (“Watchmen,” “Wanderlust”). Akerman is currently in negotiations to join this hard-boiled crime iteration of mystery writer Agatha Christie’s “Ten Little Indians,” with the film set to follow the tale of an elite DEA task force who rob an underground drug cartel while operating under the guise of a warranted raid. They think they’re in the clear, until they all start being bumped off one-by-one. Akerman will lend her acting chops to the DEA team in Ayer’s latest cop drama/thriller picture.

It's a pretty good time to be Jennifer Lawrence. The actress is not only a major part of two franchises -- "The Hunger Games" and the new Matthew Vaughn directed 'X-Men' films -- but she's making major strides in the dramatic realm as well, starring in this fall's David O. Russell flick "The Silver Linings Playbook," with Susanne Bier's period tale "Serena" already in the can. And moreover, she's lining up big projects to fit in between the blockbusters, including an adaptation of the acclaimed memoir "The Glass Castle" and more recently, the romantic drama "The Ends Of The Earth." But it's also time for Lawrence to get rewarded for her success so far, and boy, while she ever.
