The writing narrative around “Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice” is a fascinating one that hasn’t really come to full light yet, but it’ll be interesting to hear what happened when all the filmmakers are ready to talk. You’ll remember Zack Snyder and co. originally had a May, 2015 release date in mind and as early as October of last year, the filmmaker was shooting some kind of football game scene that involved a team from Gotham (Batman’s digs) and Metropolis (obviously the home to Superman). It all seemed like full steam ahead.

Even before he won his Oscar for Best Picture for "Argo," Ben Affleck wasn't lacking in possible directorial vehicles. Dennis Lehane adaptation "Live By Night," a Whitey Bulger biopic (that he told us is one more movie away), a remake of Guillaume Canet's "Tell No One," Stephen King adaptation "The Stand," Yankees flick "The Trade" and more (we go into great detail right here) have all been percolating, but you can bet even more material will be crossing his desk now that Oscar is his paperweight. And indeed, another has.

We're now in the final seven days of the 2012/2013 awards season. This time next week we'll be bleary eyed, a little hungover, and probably quite ready to never see Seth MacFarlane tell another joke about "Django Unchained" for the rest of our lives. But there's still been some time to squeeze in some precursor awards, and after the Eddies on Saturday, last night saw the last major pre-Oscars ceremony, in the shape of the final of the four big guilds, the Writers' Guild of America.

After what seemed like a long period in the weeds following "Green Zone" and the collapse of 'Bourne 4,' Paul Greengrass looks poised for a comeback. Next fall brings his Tom Hanks-starring hostage drama "Captain Phillips" to the big screen, and just a couple of weeks ago it was reported that his Martin Luther King Jr. film is back on, with the wheels turning to make it his next effort. And now, he's got another movie percolating.
