Actor Sam Riley has been progressing up the ranks after his break-out performance in the 2007 biopic “Control” and his more recent turn in "On The Road." With a starring role alongside Angelina Jolie in “Maleficient” next summer, Riley has jumped aboard the Weinstein Company’s adaptation of Irene Nemirovsky’s book, “Suite Francaise.” Set in WWII, the project recently acquired leading lady Michelle Williams, on top of a cast that already includes Kristin Scott Thomas as Williams’ mother. The story follows a French woman (Williams) who falls in love with a German officer (played by Matthias Schoenaerts). The cast is a fine assortment of indie darlings and past Oscar contenders who could give it strong legs for awards consideration next year. Production is set to start later this summer for a release next year. [Deadline]

While we anxiously await the oddball awesomeness David O. Russell is cooking up with "American Hustle," let's take a victory lap with "Silver Linings Playbook." The screwball rom-com nabbed 8 Oscar nominations resulting in a Best Actress win for Jennifer Lawrence, who shined among a uniformly excellent ensemble in the tale of one man's journey to find a happy medium between his mental illness and the troubles in his life. It's charming, winning stuff, and one extra moment that didn't make it to theaters is now available for you to enjoy at home.

Even from his first round of interviews promoting “Reservoir Dogs,” Quentin Tarantino has always concerned himself with the grand overview of his career, adding layer upon referential layer to his world-building while talking up spinoffs galore. However, with his slavery western “Django Unchained” right around the corner -- and featuring its share of trilogy hints itself -- the director has spoken up about the end of his filmmaking career, as well as a number of insights into his latest bold effort.

So which David O. Russell will appear for "The Silver Linings Playbook"? The movie, about an institutionalized man (played by Bradley Cooper) who returns to his parents (Jacki Weaver and Robert De Niro) and falls in love with a similarly unwell woman (Jennifer Lawrence), also marks first time anybody's seen Chris Tucker since "Rush Hour 3" (in a dialed down performance) and it's hard to gauge thus far where it will land tonally. Will it be something a bit more screwball like "Flirting With Disaster" or "I Heart Huckabees," or a deft blend of comedy and drama like "The Fighter"?

'Rush Hour 4' In The Works With Chris Tucker & Jackie Chan, Will Be "Gritty"

You might think that with "Rush Hour 3" making less domestically than the first "Rush Hour" film, and barely passing it worldwide, that any chance at a "Rush Hour 4" would be off the table. But while Chris Tucker once commanded a huge salary -- taking $20 million for "Rush Hour 2" and $25 million for "Rush Hour 3" -- tax woes might be making his asking price come way down. And thus, the possibility of "Rush Hour 4" becomes frightening real.

As we already know, Chris Tucker doesn't work very often. 1995's "Friday" launched the comic actor's film career thanks to his hilarious turn as the pot loving Smokey, but while the film became a hit spawning two sequels -- "Next Friday" and "Friday After Next" -- Tucker went on to other things, mostly involving Brett Ratner. Next year will mark a decade since the last installment in the franchise, but it looks like New Line wants to take another puff.

Chris Tucker Looking Likely As He Enters Final NegotiationsJulia Stiles' career has been a bit of an odd one. She's been working consistently ever since the late '90s/early aughts but never quite became a household name. In recent years, she's probably best known for her role in the 'Bourne' trilogy, "Mona Lisa Smile" and her turn on the last season of "Dexter." And while the actress can never be quite pegged down, we really didn't expect this bit of news.

In all honesty, two years ago, few outside of Australia had heard of veteran actress Jacki Weaver. Indeed, while she worked on a number of seminal films at home in the 1970s, winning two Australian Film Institute Awards and turning up in Peter Weir's "Picnic At Hanging Rock," she'd been mostly absent from the screen since, focusing instead on stage work in Oz (most recently appearing alongside Cate Blanchett in "Uncle Vanya").

While everyone getting excited about a possible Eddie Murphy comeback now that he has "Tower Heist" and the Oscar hosting gig coming up (jeez, people, have we already forgotten about “Hong Kong Phooey”?) it looks like another Brett Ratner buddy is making some even bolder steps back into the spotlight.

Jamie Foxx & Chris Tucker Also In The Running For The LeadWhile Deadline is trumping exclusive, they were (kind of) beat to the story a week ago so let's rewind a bit. Last week, former Creative Screenwriting magazine Senior Editor Jeff Goldsmith tweeted, “Casting Rumor: Leonardo DiCaprio WILL play villain Calvin Candie in [Quentin] Tarantino‘s “Django Unchained”! QT wanted him for I.B. & now has him!” Well, it looks like it's just a matter of working out deal points right now.
