Writers Tease "Psychotic 1950s Cap" For 'Captain America 3'

The general public has barely been able to catch a glimpse of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (thought the first ten minutes of the movie are right here) and yet we are already talking about the third Captain America movie. Last week, we learned that “Captain America 3” would get released on May 6th, 2016 which created a lot of buzz since it’s the same release date of the upcoming Batman/Superman film. And while plot details regarding future Marvel films usually tend be fairly tight-lipped, some interesting info regarding “Captain America 3” has recently been leaked to the public, thanks to screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.

EXCLUSIVE: Stephen McFeely, co-writer of "Captain America: The First Avenger" and its upcoming sequel, told The Playlist that he and his partner Christopher Markus are optimistic that Michael Bay’s next project will be directing “Pain and Gain,” a black comedy they wrote about a real-life crime. “He’s headed in that direction,” McFeely said last week during a telephone interview for the home video release of “Captain America.” “There’s been more public comments from him, so it’s nice. But it seems more realistic than it did two years ago when it seemed a little more realistic than it did two years before that, so we’re cautiously optimistic.”

Marvel’s most patriotic superhero, Captain America, is finally getting his just due on the big screen after years of attempts and misfires like the corny 1990 release you’ve probably never heard of (count yourself lucky) featuring Matt Salinger in the red, white and blue man tights.

Paramount and Marvel clearly have high hopes and strong confidence in their forthcoming release of “Captain America: The First Avenger,” which hits screens July 22nd. They’ve already deployed screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely to begin work on a sequel, which will most likely follow the release of Joss Whedon’s ambitious “The Avengers” movie in 2012.
