Kevin Smith Jersey Girl
Even though he doesn't even have a movie in theaters, the chatty Kevin Smith has been generating a lot of print over the last few days. The gushing comments about his "Star Wars: Episode 7" set visit made the rounds on the July 4th weekend, and waking up this morning, it seems the filmmaker has even more to share about a couple of projects on his plate. And just for the hell of it, he's at the heart of latest rumor surrounding "Batman v. Superman: Dawn Of Justice."

Kevin Smith Clerks
If Kevin Smith and Jay Z have anything in common, it's that they have a very loose interpretation of the word "retirement." If you recall, the filmmaker who once flirted with packing it all in following "Red State," has done anything but. While it looks like his once-mooted hockey epic "Hit Somebody" is sitting on the backburner somewhere, he's already wrapped on his next flick, the horror "Tusk," and it seems that's just the tip of the iceberg.

While folks like "Veronica Mars," Zach Braff and Charlie Kaufman made waves by using crowdsourcing efforts to fund their next projects, had history turned out differently, Kevin Smith would've beaten them to the punch. The filmmaker, who wears his indie cred and outsider(ish) status like a badge of honor has never turned to fans to ask for their hand in funding a movie. But as he reveals in a recent interview with KCRW, he once did consider it for his horror "Red State," but gave it a second thought when even the mere suggestion caused some negativity to stir on the internet.

After first teasing that "Clerks 3" would be a movie, and then saying that it might be a book, the vacillating Kevin Smith has gone ahead an finished the damn thing as a screenplay. But wait, there's more....

Rosario Dawson On Danny Boyle’s ‘Trance,’ Hypnotherapy, Shaving Her Head For 'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' & More

In Danny Boyle’s latest genre-bending effort, “Trance,” film noir is fractured into a multi-layered crime narrative with lush, angular cinematography, and -- of course -- an allegiance-shifting femme fatale. As American hypnotherapist Elizabeth Lamb, who guides art auctioneer Simon (James McAvoy) toward the repressed location of a stolen painting pursued by gangster Franck (Vincent Cassel), actress Rosario Dawson impeccably holds the last of those aspects.

Decisiveness, it seems, hasn’t been high on Kevin Smith’s New Year agenda. First, the third installment of his cult franchise, "Clerks," was going to be a feature film, then a 6-monther on Broadway, then - nope, actually – an online serial (all of this following his announced retirement from directing). Now, just as fans thought he couldn’t toy with them any longer, Smith has undertaken one (last?) change of tack: "Clerks" – the book.

So, something must've happened in the past seven days or so, because when we talked to Kevin Smith last week, he was pretty certain his long-gestating hockey movie "Hit Somebody" was going to be standalone movie after being considered as a two-parter. "It's tough to get one hockey movie made, let alone two. So I've switched back to one movie. I had one-and-a-half scripts that I had to get down to one. I want to get it down to a 150-page script and I know that's longer than the average script length but I figure I give myself a two-and-a-half hour length on paper knowing that I'm really ruthless in editorial and I can get it down to 2, 2:05, because this is a movie that takes place over 30 years," he explained to us. But now it seems he's switching gears.
