Believe it or not, you're actually going to have more than one option this week when it comes to movies taking on the hunt for and killing of Osama Bin Laden. Yes, there's Kathryn Bigelow's awards season favorite, "Zero Dark Thirty," going into wide release on Friday. But hitting DVD and Blu-ray yesterday was The Weinstein Company's much lower budget "Seal Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden."

It’s election season. Hurray for democracy! So far that’s had a slight impact on the movie world, other than the Will Ferrell/Zach Galifianakis (in this writer’s opinion laughless) comedy “The Campaign” arriving in theatres this summer. And while much more powderkeg type movies in Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln" and Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty" won't arrive until after election day to prevent any accusations of trying to sway the vote, it seems that loveable old scamp Harvey Weinstein isn’t worried about falling into the same trap. He's gone ahead and recut the television drama “SEAL Team Six: The Raid on Osama bin Laden” to more prominently feature President Barack Obama.

While Universal and Kathryn Bigelow ducked brewing controversy around their upcoming "Zero Dark Thirty" by moving the film from its previously planned release date this month to December 19th, to avoid any charges that they were trying to influence voters over to Team Obama, Harvey Weinstein is stepping right into the fray. Earlier this year, The Weinstein Company picked up "Code Name: Geronimo" -- a sort of budget version take on the same material -- and now their planning to launch the subtly retitled "Seal Team Six: The Raid On Osama Bin Laden" one day before election. No one does it like Harvey....

You could throw a stone in Hollywood right now and hit a Navy SEAL. Not that you'd want to, we imagine -- a bullet would go between your eyes before the rock hit the ground. But the execution of Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden at the hand of SEAL Team 6 has made the Navy badasses the go-to choice of Hollywood leads all of a sudden, with "Call of Duty"-esque propaganda movie "Act of Valor" hitting in February, with Kathryn Bigelow's story of the figures who tracked down Bin Laden eyeing a release at the end of next year.
