A.C.O.D. Adam Scott
Sometimes movies need to sell us on their premise or the visual ambition, or provide some other hook to get us interested. Then there are movies like the upcoming comedy "A.C.O.D.," which with an ensemble led by Adam Scott and featuring Catherine O'Hara, Richard Jenkins, Jane Lynch, Clark Duke, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Amy Poehler and Jessica Alba, has the kind of cast we'd watch in anything. Just tell us where to show up. Speaking of showing up, not only do have some exclusive photos and clips from the film but those of you in New York City may be in for an extra treat.

From Up On Poppy Hill
Although it's causing something of a storm in Japan, where wartime matters are still controversial, “The Wind Rises,” the latest film from animation legend Hayao Miyazaki (read our review) is already a huge critical and commercial hit, as is par for the course for the great director (if case you hadn’t heard, he’s retiring). His son, Goro Miyazaki, has always been given a much rougher ride with Japanese audiences, often laboring in the shadow of his illustrious father. “From Up on Poppy Hill” marked a serious turning point though, picking up a slew of good reviews in Japan, the U.S. and Europe, as well as a healthy box-office take and the Animation of the Year award at the Japan Academy Prize (the Japanese Oscars.)

Nominated in 2012 at both the Golden Globes and the Oscars, for Best Foreign Language Film Of The Year, Norwegian production “Kon-Tiki," from directors Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg (who are now slated to helm “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” off the strength of this film), adapts Thor Heyerdahl's 1948 international bestseller “The Kon-Tiki Expedition: By Raft Across the South Seas” into a big screen thriller.

Don Jon, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scarlett Johansson
This one's got love, sex and porn. What more could you want? Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a triple threat. Writer, director, actor, you could even go quintuple or more if you counted his growing entrepreneurial multi-media empire hitRecord and his seemingly innate ability to sing and dance. Having made many shorts for his aforementioned company, Gordon-Levitt directed his first feature-length effort earlier this year and it premiered to rave reviews at Sundance. Titled "Don Jon," the movie co-stars Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Tony Danza and Brie Larson and centers on a New Jersey lothario (JGL) who develops unrealistic expectations from watching porn and then has to work at finding happiness and intimacy with his potential true love.

Wong Kar-Wai's martial arts epic "The Grandmaster" kicks its way onto screens this weekend, with a generous push from The Weinstein Company. The studio has been promoting the movie via traditional methods, but they've also been thinking outside the box. Last month, they brought Wong Kar-Wai to San Diego for Comic-Con and in a fitting fashion, a comic book was created at the same time and released at the convention. But if you weren't in San Diego and still want to check it out, we've got a pretty special treat...

There are few filmmakers who arrived with quite the same frenzy as Xavier Dolan did when he unveiled his directorial debut, "I Killed My Mother" in 2009. Landing at Cannes for a splashy premiere, where it took the Prix Regards C.I.C.A.E. Award, and putting the director on the map, it established the bold style that Dolan would develop across two more features, "Heartbeats" and "Laurence Anyways." With Dolan slated to unveil his latest effort, the thriller "Tom At The Farm" — which promises to be taking a different direction than his previous works — now is as good a time as any to revisit where it all begun.

Love, sex, relationships...porn? Yep, that XXX material once relegated to magazines stuffed under mattresses and shoved into rarely used dresser drawers is now nearly mainstream. Everyone looks at it, but what if looking at that material was part of your daily life to the point where it affected how you relate to the opposite sex? That's the jumping off point for Joseph Gordon-Levitt's feature directorial debut "Don Jon," and a new trailer has arrived to give you a sample of what he's put together.
