Exclusive: With "A Dangerous Method" headed into release next week, thoughts inevitably turn to director David Cronenberg's next film; unusually, the filmmaker shot two pictures virtually back to back, following his period drama with "Cosmopolis," an adaptation of the Don DeLillo novel. And the film hass come with an uncharacteristic level of attention in the mainstream press.

With top composers like Danny Elfman, Clint Mansell and Cliff Martinez all having graduated from the rock'n'roll world (Oingo Boingo, Pop Will Eat Itself and Red Hot Chili Peppers respectively), the idea of having bands tuning up a movie is becoming more and more and common these days, with Yo La Tengo, Mogwai, Daft Punk, The Chemical Brothers and Basement Jaxx among the many acts who've written film scores in recent years. The latest to join them; Canadian indie rock band Metric.

With the "Twilight" franchise now nearing an end, heartthrob Robert Pattinson has been eagerly looking to break away from the tween sensation that has made him a star. He valiantly tried to steer the ridiculously manipulative "Remember Me" but had better success this year with the period drama "Water For Elephants," with that film quietly climbing to nearly $100 million worldwide. Not bad. His next effort at creating cinema that won't just appeal to teenage girls and their Moms is David Cronenberg's "Cosmopolis."

The rangy young actor will play a "financial whiz kid" in the film, who makes a fortuitous gamble over the course of the film's single-day narrative. Baruchel is joining a loaded cast, including Robert Pattinson, Samantha Morton, Juliette Binoche, Paul Giamatti, Mathieu Amalric and Sarah Gadon. Baruchel will next be seen in the Michael Dowse-directed "Goon," which he co-wrote with Evan Goldberg, before lending his voice to the second film in the "How To Train Your Dragon" series. While Samantha Morton has briefly flirted with the tentpole world, memorably playing opposite Tom Cruise in Steven Spielberg's "Minority Report" (and she has a role in the upcoming "John Carter of Mars"), the actress have carved out a fascinating career largely built on selecting parts in uniquely independent films. In recent years she has starred in Oren Movernman's "The Messenger," Harmony Korine's "Mister Lonely," Anton Corbijn's "Control" and Charlie Kaufman's "Synecdoche, New York." And she's now adding one more acclaimed director to her list.
