Listen, I know what you expect from me. After last week's showing, you're expecting me to wax poetic about Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling and all the man beauty at the box office. Nope. What Chris Evans and I have is special and beautiful and I will not sully it with that cad, Ryan. I will leave that salivating to the male portion of the Playlist, as Mr. Gosling is the designated man crush. I don't need to build him up anymore than the rest of these dudes have. He's a great actor with a wonderful sense of personal style. THE END. All I will say about Mr. Craig is that I hope his bum is insured by Lloyd's of London for as much as J. Lo's booty. Anyway! In theaters this week! The improbably premised "Cowboys & Aliens"! Rom-com for men, "Crazy, Stupid Love"! "The Smurfs".... You know it's not a week without a dumb movie for children! Let's do it to it.

Review: Chemistry Really Cooks In The Uneven, But Super Charming 'Crazy Stupid Love'

Precariously mixing elements of broad comedy, bittersweet heartache, charming romance and soulful, surprisingly mature dramatic moments, "Crazy, Stupid, Love" is an endearing and winning summer comedic drama. It succeeds in spite of some messy plotting, dicey adulteration of tones, and too convenient and ridiculous sequences that threaten to unravel a well-made, mostly well-written picture about love and marital discord.

Yep, this week is pretty much going to be nothing but tentpole movie news and comic book updates as Comic-Con gets into full swing. And meanwhile, at your local multiplex it seems to be nothing but wizards, robots, pirates and foul mouthed comedies, which makes next week's arrival of the layered, PG-13 rom-com "Crazy Stupid Love" all the more interesting.

We know it's pretty much the heart of the summer, but if you have plans to spend the last weekend of July doing anything other than sit in a movie theater, you might want to consider rearranging them. On one of the busiest release dates in recent memory, there seems to be something for everyone: blockbuster fans get "Cowboys & Aliens," lovers of cult films get "Attack the Block," those who like "Scarface"-esque dramas with breakout lead performances get Dominic Cooper in "The Devil's Double," indie types get Miranda July's "The Future" or Brendan Gleeson in sweary Irish action-comedy "The Guard," subtitle-philes get French thriller "Point Blank," documentary fans get "El Bulli" and "Life in a Day," and people who hate their kids get "The Smurfs."

It doesn't get much more star studded than this. The Steve Carell dramedy, "Crazy, Stupid, Love." has lined up a killer ensemble cast including Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Kevin Bacon, Marisa Tomei, singer Josh Groban and Analeigh Tipton, and in the first trailer for the film, it looks like everyone is in top form.
