Cuban Fury
How do you win over a girl that's seemingly out of your league? Find out what they like, be yourself and maybe, learn how to dance. All those elements come into the mix in the upcoming comedy "Cuban Fury" in which one man's romantic pursuit finds him flying across the dance floor.

Cuban Fury
The power of dance has been used throughout cinematic history to tell a variety of stories, and while "Cuban Fury" probably won't go down as any kind of classic, if it entertains you enough for 90-odd minutes, it has probably done its job.

Cuban Fury
People of The Playlist, I come to you from across the sea, from the land known as Britain, with a message of great importance. Listen carefully, for it is this: just because we British people make a cheap-ass comedy does not mean you need to think it is charming and off-beat. There is an equally good chance it is terrible and unoriginal. And lo, a case in point. Behold, the arrival on your shores of the trailer for “Cuban Fury,” which here in London has been sweatily salsa-humping my eyeballs on every cinema visit for the past two months.

What's one way to a woman's heart? Dancing, apparently. And that's pretty much the entire drive behind the upcoming British comedy "Cuban Fury," with the first trailer arriving this morning hoping that its moves are enough to make you interested to see this.

Steve McQueen has quite an abundance of talent at his disposal for "Twelve Years A Slave" but now has more two more additions in TV staple Alfre Woodard and newcomer Lupita Nyong'o. Woodard will play a former slave who has risen through the caste system while Nyong'o plays the object of both affection and cruelty of Master Epps, to be played by Michael Fassbender. The film, of course, stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup, a free black man who is tricked into slavery and faces a grueling life under several owners. Brad Pitt, Scoot McNairy, Benedict Cumberbatch, Paul Giamatti, Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Garrett Dillahunt, Ruth Negga and Adepero Oduye all co-star in the John Ridley co-scripted tale. Most anticipated for 2013? It's up there, no doubt. [THR]

One of the biggest compliments one could give to the Apatow-era of comedy is the development of talent, often very young and unheralded, from all around the world. Take, for instance, the international ensemble for "Bridesmaids" which featured Americans (Melissa McCarthy, Ellie Kemper), Brits (Matt Lucas, Chris O'Dowd) and Australians (Rose Byrne, Rebel Wilson) side-by-side.

Chris O'Dowd is on his way to becoming a very big deal. The Irish comic actor first came to notice, alongside Richard Ayoade, in cult TV show "The IT Crowd," and after early movie appearances in "The Boat That Rocked" and "Gulliver's Travels," has gone from strength to strength; he got to show dramatic range in "The Crimson Petal and White," and after playing the swoonsome cop love interest in "Bridesmaids," has become something of a favorite of the Judd Apatow gang, with roles in "Friends With Kids," "This Is Forty" and "Girls" all coming up.
