Guys, you're never going to believe this, but Liam Neeson has just become attached to a movie where he'll play an older gentleman with a unique set of skills which he has to use to protect his family. No joke, and we're not talking about "Taken 3: Totally Tooken."

It's coming on nine years since the last movie based on a work by John Grisham hit the screen ("Christmas With The Kranks"), and ten years if you stick strictly to his bread-and-butter legal thrillers ("Runaway Jury"). But Grisham is still a big name and a bestselling author, and it's no surprise that Hollywood has been eager to get back in the game with the writer. NBC tried, and failed, to turn "The Firm" into a series, and over the past year a number of his books have been developing including "The Associate," "Calico Joe" and "The Partner." And now another is entering the fray.

Earlier this year, we took a look at a handful of directors who are attached to a zillion projects, and one of those folks was Ridley Scott. One of the movies on his slate was "Child 44," and among the plethora of options he currently has, we figured the chances of him actually getting behind the camera on this (which he signed on for way back in 2007) at about 8/1 and for those you betting at home, you can now take it off his list. Another name is stepping in, and it's an exciting one.

"You guys are behind!" Joel Kinnaman teases. From his vantage point, we are. While the first of the "Snabba Cash" films (called "Easy Money" in English-speaking markets) comes out this week in the U.S., Sweden has already celebrated the first installment, giving the film three Guldbagges (the country's equivalent of an Oscar), including a win for Kinnaman for Best Actor, and moved on to the second, "Snabba Cash II," which comes out August 17th abroad.

It has been a pretty good 2012 for Daniel Espinosa. The director made his Hollywood debut with the action flick "Safe House" starring Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington, and the R-rated movie exceeded expectations, taking more than $120 million at the U.S. box office on it's way to more than $200 million worldwide. So what does he get for an encore? How about Martin Scorsese presenting the stateside debut of the film that got you the attention of the industry in the first place?

After making waves with his critically acclaimed "Snabba Cash" -- which is only seeing a theatrical release this summer, two years after it's original Swedish unveiling -- Daniel Espinosa was linked to numerous big-name projects before moving onto the Denzel Washington/Ryan Reynolds starrer "Safe House," which has surely earned him a lot of good will with its box office performance (it crossed $100 million domestic this week). The helmer looks to be showing no signs of stopping and is now negotiating to take the helm of Andrew Baldwin's Black List approved fish-out-of-water Yakuza crime drama "The Outsider."

Featuring a conventional, by-the-numbers dynamic and story, but a crackling, intense momentum and execution, the Denzel Washington-led CIA thriller "Safe House" splits the difference between comfortably traditional and genuinely thrilling, leaving for an entertaining, but frequently overly familiar experience.

In "Safe House," a rookie agent named Matt Weston (played by Ryan Reynolds) is the "housekeeper," minding the store for an underutilized CIA safe house, when one day, a "house guest" finally arrives for interrogation. It's not just any house guest either -- it's former agent-gone-rogue Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), considered to be a master manipulator, a traitor, and one of the most dangerous men in the world. And as soon as Frost arrives, so do the men pursuing him, killing almost everyone but Weston and Frost, who escape. They might be considered a team if it weren't for Frost's attempts to manipulate, escape, and kill his captor, who is in way over his head. The stars of "Safe House," along with director Daniel Espinosa ("Snabba Cash"), were in New York recently to discuss the film's psychological basis, action sequences, and on-location shoot in Cape Town, South Africa.
