Tim Burton Actually In Legitimate Talks To Direct Michael Keaton in ‘Beetlejuice 2′

In the 28 years that Tim Burton has been making feature-length films he’s made a sequel only once: “Batman Returns,” the 1992 sequel to “Batman” in 1989. Of course there is “Frankenweenie,” but that’s a feature-length remake/expansion Burton's 1984 short film of the same name. And while the Halloween-friendly filmmaker has managed to avoid sequels for two decades since, he’s about to jump into that fray once more with a sequel to 1988’s “Beetlejuice.”

As part of the annual dog-and-pony show that is network up-fronts, where new series are trotted out before advertisers and press, Cartoon Network has revealed (via Hollywood Reporter) that they have ordered eight new pilots for its after hours Adult Swim programming block, and among them are a new series from "Community" creator Dan Harmon, an animated series based on the 'Harold & Kumar' franchise, and a project produced by "Dark Shadows"/"Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" writer Seth Grahame-Smith.

With David O. Russell and Mike White both having temporarily filled and subsequently vacated the director's chair for the gestating adaptation of "Pride And Prejudice And Zombies" the hunt is still on and more names continue to surface. Last month, Craig Gillespie -- who helmed "Lars And the Real Girl" and the upcoming "Fright Night" -- was in talks for the gig and now a directing/producing duo are throwing their hats in the ring.
