“I haven’t gotten the big idea,” David Lynch recently told 24 Frames about the prospect of future movies from the helmer. “I’ve got some fragments that are coming, but not the big idea...If I got an idea that I fell in love with, I’d go to work tomorrow. I just haven’t.” And while that's a bummer, it seems there are still bits of pieces of the director's work that are worth revisiting.

If there was any justice in this world, some generous benefactor would drop some cash to air David Lynch's ad during the Super Bowl if only to freak America out. If anything it will certainly be more memorable than the halftime show. But alas, that won't happen, so you'll just have to enjoy it as is.

It's amazing how time flies. It was in January that David Lynch first tipped off that a treasure trove of deleted scenes and lost footage from his classic 1986 psycho-drama "Blue Velvet" had been unearthed. And as the Guardian details, these scenes may have been lost forever were it not for the persistence of an MGM staffer who kept up a search for the footage.

So, what has David Lynch been up to since "Inland Empire"? Well, doing everything but making another movie. Oh sure, he might have a new film in the works, and there's that transcendental meditation documentary knocking around, but he's otherwise been doing ads for fashion labels, directing concert webcasts, making short films like the piece he recently put together for Viennale Fest ‘11, and oh yeah, he recorded his first album which comes out next month.
