Trailer Park Boys
After the success they enjoyed with reviving “Arrested Development” last May, Netflix will once again become the necromancers of television. This time, they will be giving a second life to the popular Canadian series “Trailer Park Boys” with two new seasons and two feature films confirmed.

Since actor David Tennant stepped away from the dimension-jumping tendencies of “Doctor Who,” you might assume those sorts of existential dilemmas had come to an end, especially since he'd taken a role in the BBC's police procedural “Broadchurch.” Well, after a massively successful first series run in the UK and on BBC America, it seems just the opposite, as the actor has agreed to next play two separate versions of the same character.

Big-screen success has been elusive for the comedic duo, but that hasn’t kept Danny McBride and Jody Hill from creating one of the most iconic comedic characters in Kenny Powers on the HBO series “Eastbound & Down.” Though that show is winding down with its final season airing later this year, McBride and Hill are sticking around on the famed cable network. Deadline reports that the two creative partners are developing another comedy series for the network, described as their “look at high school.” The final season of “Eastbound & Down” arrives in September, just in time for the MLB playoffs.

If you're a fan of the HBO series "Luck," some sad news has arrived as HBO has decided to cease all future production on the show. It comes in the wake of a horse dying on set during the filming of the second episode of season two, marking the third horse to have died in total during the filming of the show.

Well, damn that was fast. And we certainly had our doubts. As we outlined in our review of the first season of "Luck," the HBO horse racing world drama starts off pretty slow, can be frustratingly obtuse at times and is stuffed to bursting with characters and subplots, but by the end of the season it firmly finds its footing and sets up the possibility of a cracker jack second season.

Nick Nolte has never been one to hold back on ruffling people's feathers. He famously (or maybe infamously) lost the role of Superman after he claimed the character was schizophrenic, and still, at the tender age of 70, carries with him a fuck-em-if-they-can't-take-a-joke attitude that is both irritating and endearing (it helps that he's still an excellent actor, as was evidenced in the oddly ignored "Warrior" earlier this year). In a recent GQ interview, though, he says that one of his more outspoken stances may have cost him a relationship with one of the most powerful directors in town.

We've pretty much made our feelings on video game movies clear at this point, but to sum up: it's feasible that a good one will be made at some point, particularly if the more intriguing likes of "Bioshock" eventually reach the screen, but as the genre continues to rip-off much better movies and are helmed by C-list talent like Paul W.S. Anderson, it's not going to happen any time soon. Still, with David O. Russell on board to write and direct a version of PS3 hit "Uncharted," possibly with Mark Wahlberg, Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro all involved, things are looking up.

This year's first batch of new high-profile television shows have already proven to be hits, particularly "Boardwalk Empire" and "The Walking Dead," but one of the upcoming projects which has us excited as ever is David Milch and Michael Mann's horse-racing drama "Luck."
