David Slade's last move was "Twilight: Eclipse" but he seems to have run into a few stumbling blocks getting his next film mounted. He had lined up the vampire horror flick "The Last Voyage Of Demeter" but potential star Noomi Rapace cast doubt on the project in the spring over her involvement and not much has been heard about it since. The most high profile gig Slade landed was taking on the reboot of "Daredevil" but that too seems to be in a weird limbo, with no other updates at all since it was first announced. He was also in the mix for "The Wolverine" but we all know how that turned out. Now it looks like he's got an interesting new project coming his way, but too bad it sounds almost exactly like "Drive."

Fox has played it smart since Darren Aronofsky left "The Wolverine." Instead of a rush of shortlist candidates hitting the web, and studio and its star, Hugh Jackman, have kept cool, insisting they want the right person for the job. But it appears we've just seen the tip of the iceberg of potential candidates.

Despite director David Slade recently taking to Twitter to express his optimism about the prospects for the previously announced vampire-road-film "The Last Voyage Of Demeter," it seems one of his potential stars isn't quite on the same level. 'Dragon Tattoo' star Noomi Rapace has revealed that her burgeoning slate and increasing popularity in Hollywood may be a hurdle too great to overcome for the potential collaboration with Slade.

Plus 'Twilight: Eclipse' Helmer David Slade To Direct Pilot For 'R.E.M.'With the stigma of working in TV long since eroded, it seems that there's no big-screen producer, director or writer these days without a TV series or two on the go; only yesterday saw James Mangold and Philip Noyce join big names like Martin Scorsese, Michael Mann and Bryan Singer as helmers who've taken charge of TV pilots in recent memory. Now more news of big-name above-the-line talent who are moving forward on new telly shows, both of which could see themselves turning up on our DVR if they move forward.

Likens It To An Old-Girlfriend Coming Back And Stepping DownYou'll recall a few weeks before Darren Aronofsky took the gig for "The Wolverine," then colloquially known as "Wolverine 2," several high-profile directors were in contention for the job -- or at least in discussions -- and one of those filmmaker was "Twilight: Eclipse" and "30 Days Of Night" director David Slade (other names included Robert Schwentke and allegedly Matt Reeves and Tony Scott, to name a few).
