It's coming on nearly four years since the original Swedish language version of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" rode the wave of the popularity of the books, becoming a hit in its own right and making a star out of Noomi Rapace in the process. But since then, director Niels Arden Oplev has been keeping a low profile. Dabbling in television work for the most part while developing a couple of feature gigs, the helmer will make his Hollywood debut in 2013 with "Dead Man Down." And he's hoping that Rapace is the good luck charm that will work some magic a second time around.

Well, this will be an interesting little experiment. While both have been part of hit films, neither Noomi Rapace or Colin Farrell are necessarily marquee names. Sure, Rapace was part of the successful Swedish version of "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" and is currently starring in "Prometheus," but that movie is sold on concept, not her name. As for Farrell, he's always been a wildcard, hard to predict, and he was likely more known last summer for his brief supporting role in "Horrible Bosses" than as the wicked villain of "Fright Night."

While the Swedish 'Dragon Tattoo' films didn't grip us as much as David Fincher's version, the overall success of the films (and, in this case, the first film) has paved the way for the talent involved, director Niels Arden Oplev and actress Noomi Rapace. Now hard at work on an English-language reunion, "Dead Man Down," the duo have managed to get us excitied with a grimey-sounding revenge-actioner that boasts a stellar cast that includes Colin Farrell, Dominic Cooper, Terrence Howard and Isabelle Huppert.

There are few actresses who march to the beat of their own drum in the way that Isabelle Huppert does. This year alone finds her in three wildly different movies, from a trio of auteur filmmakers, including Brillante Mendoza's "Captive," which premiered in Berlin and a duo of pics unspooling at the Cannes Film Festival: Michael Haneke's "Amour" and Hong Sang-Soo's "In Another Country." And now, just like that, she's again confounding expectations, taking a role in her first Hollywood project since 2004's David O. Russell's "I Heart Huckabees" (or if you want to be technical about it, since an appearance on "Law & Order: SVU" in 2010).

Terrence Howard has been around for a while, and done a lot of different things, but has be ever really played a bad guy? Listen, it's Friday afternoon, it's Easter and we may be forgetting something, but we can't remember when last the Academy Award nominated actor made life hard for a couple of protagonists. But either way, his next role will see him doing just that.

What happens when you're about become the biggest actress on the planet? Projects start moving. Should "Prometheus" land the way many expect it will, Noomi Rapace will quickly become a (quirky) household name and Hollywood wants to make sure there is more of her on the way. Popping up and getting a taste of a multiplex sized movie in "Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows," and currently filming "Passion" with Brian DePalma another project that actress was linked to last fall is moving forward.
