There's a basic appeal to the idea of the team-up movie. Since the dawn of fan fiction, people have dreamed of combining their favorite heroes, and it's proved to be lucrative big-screen niche, from "Godzilla vs.King Kong" and "Alien vs. Predator" to next summer's "The Avengers." So it only makes sense that we'd eventually get a female-driven version of the genre, and by combining a trio of the biggest stars in the rom-com world, along with an acting legend, that seems to be what the producers of "Gently Down the Stream" are doing: it's like "The Avengers," but with stars of terrible romantic comedies.

Would Like To Work With Diane Keaton Again, But Not Sure On WhatWoody Allen may be creeping up on his 80th birthday (he's 76 this year), but his work ethic shows no sign of letting up. He's directed 41 films in 42 years and, as usual, has started prepping for the next before the premiere of his latest, the Owen Wilson/Rachel McAdams topliner "Midnight in Paris." As revealed a week or so ago, the next will follow the recent trend in Allen's work, and be set in a major European city, with Rome following on from London, Barcelona and Paris.

Studios may be principally interested in marketing noisy, crude pictures to teenagers, but that doesn't mean that they're totally ignoring their parents and grandparents. Films like "It's Complicated" and "Last Chance Harvey" have shown in recent years that there's a pretty penny to be made in the burgeoning sub-genre of the aging baby-boomer romance. If the genre has a queen, it's Diane Keaton, and news has come in that the actress is going back to the well one more time.
