Die Hard 3
When “A Good Day to Die Hard” came out early last year, it was easily the least successful film of the franchise. The movie was critically reviled and only raked in $67 million in the U.S. box office. You would think 20th Century Fox would take this as a sign that they should finally put this franchise to rest, but “A Good Day to Die Hard” somehow managed to become an international hit with $237 million alone. So, of course, that means we’re getting a sixth “Die Hard” film.

Why, why, why? Quick, can you name a franchise that has been driven into the ground worse than the “Die Hard”/John McClane series? You can’t say “Alien” because, as mediocre as “Prometheus” was, it’s still a zillion times better than any of the “AVP” series movies. Jack Ryan sure wasn’t looking healthy last time anyone checked, but that’s why there’s a reboot (scheduled for dumping ground season in January). The “Indiana Jones” series only has one outright disaster (‘Kingdom of Crystal Skulls’) and while there was two terrible “Terminator” films in a row, there were two great ones, and a reboot is on the way. And then you have “Die Hard.” Many will argue two and three were good, and for the sake of argument, let’s agree, but how do you go from the pitiful “Live Free And Die Hard” (PG-13 rating) to the even more intolerable, “A Good Day to Die Hard” (rated R) – easily one of the worst films of 2013? Well, only 20th Century Fox and the producers of those films can help you out there.

"A Good Day To Die Hard" was fucking awful, but here's the thing: it made a shitpile of money. While American audiences mostly shrugged, international audiences lined up, and taking in $302 million worldwide, 'A Good Day' has become the third best performing entry in the franchise. So, of course, Fox is thinking about getting John McClane back in action before Bruce Willis really and truly is too old for this shit.

So the fifth entry in the wheezing "Die Hard" franchise comes out in just over a week, and surprisingly, it's taken this long for the inevitable talk about a sixth entry to crop up. But with Bruce Willis on the press trail, the question has been asked, and the answer from the actor is simple: "Yes."
