"One of the great creative breakthroughs we had was that we, talking to Neil Burger the director, really looked at Kanye's Yeezus record and 'Black Skinhead' in particular and said, 'You know what, musically this sounds like the world of Dauntless,' " music supervisor Randall Poster told MTV News recently referring to brash parties in the "Divergent" universe. And thus the musical guide for the soundtrack was born.

12 Films To See In March
The dolorous effects of winter are slowly, ever so slowly, making way for the bright world of spring. Until then, and especially if you’re in one of the regions still covered in snow, you’re probably spending quite a bit of time at the local multiplex. Since February was so short we’re adding an additional two movies to tide you over this month, so hopefully you’ll have a backlog of entertainment for when you can come out of hibernation.

Will “Divergent” overcome the curse of previously failed YA adaptations? The movie doesn’t open up until March 21st, but tickets are already going on sale Tuesday March 4th, which suggests the demand is there. Moreover, the movie starring Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller and many more is tracking well, and Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment’s would-be franchise looks on course to haul in north of $50 million on its opening weekend. That would certainly bode well for its franchise hopes (and might even seal the deal immediately).

Got a young adult dystopian sci-fi-ish movie on the way? Chances are, like “Twilight” and “The Hunger Games,” your soundtrack is loaded with hip, up-and-coming indie acts (the music of which probably not actually featured in the movie, but that’s besides the point when you’re talking about synergy and trying to move units).

Quick, name a modern YA franchise that has succeeded since the "Twilight" juggernaut stormed into theaters and forced every scared-stiff, looking-over-their-shoulder studio exec to scramble for his/her own would-be moneymaking property? For every 'Hunger Games,' that has triumphed, there has been a "Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones," (initially shuttered, but limping back for a sequel), "Beautiful Creatures" (dead on arrival), "The Host" (a laughable worst-of-year dud), "The Seventh Son" (delayed by more than two years) and the Weinstein Company's "Vampire Academy" looks as if it was concocted by Friedberg and Seltzer.

Tammy, Melisa McCarthy
In case you missed it, Redbox revealed their top 10 most rented titles of 2013 on Christmas Eve, and two films from comedian Melissa McCarthy, "The Heat" and "Identity Thief," nabbed the top two slots. Not too shabby. Plus now you know what the rest of the country does when they rent movies. Suffice to say the "Bridesmaids" breakout actress has become a bona fide star in her own right.

Divergent,
In case one year between “The Hunger Games” movies is too much for you, perhaps this upcoming film can help to appease your appetite. “Divergent” stars Shailene Woodley and a brand new clip from the film has just been released, which is certainly not meant to attract a specific demographic. No, not at all. As Ellie Goulding's "Dead In The Water" fills the background, Beatrice Prior (Woodley) gets a nice look at Tobias Eaton’s (Theo James) elaborate tattoo design. It’s the tattoo design, and only the tattoo, that is impressive here. Nothing else.

With superlatives like "the 'Empire Strikes Back' of young adult adaptations" being thrown around for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," do any other YA adaptations stand a chance? Certainly, there have been comers like "Beautiful Creatures" and "The Host," which both flopped, while "The Mortal Instruments: City Of Bones" seems to be getting a sequel mostly because the property rights are there to be exploited. But next year's "Divergent" is certainly aiming high with a campaign worthy of Panem. But as always, it's the fanbase they need to support the movie, but will the welcome the tweaks being made to Veronica Roth's source material?

The Spectacular Now
Sustaining the buzz from January at the Sundance Film Festival until October, ten months later, is no easy feat. Plenty of movies have floated out of Park City with oodles of press and praise, only to be forgotten by time it comes for their release. But it speaks to the quality of filmmaking, and the authenticity of feel, that James Ponsoldt's "The Spectacular Now" didn't suffer such a fate. The picture rolled into the Savannah Film Festival this week with both the director and star Miles Teller on hand to present the film, which was shot in Athens, Georgia. And we got a few moments to chat with Teller about the movie, his drumming skills and transitioning from indie pictures to full blown tentpole productions.

Miles Teller
While attending the Savannah Film Festival, Fandango talked to Miles Teller, star of this year's wonderful teen romance "The Spectacular Now" (and also the odious college comedy "21 and Over"), about what he's got coming up next. Teller also stars in next year's high profile YA adaptation "Divergent," whose sequel is set to begin shooting imminently. But what about that other hot property Teller has been attached to? You know, the one with the Invisible Woman and The Thing…
