Last week, we were relieved to hear that Doug Liman's long-gestating Untitled Moon project was still on track since there hadn't been a peep in what seemed like years. Liman himself recently told us and others that the film is one of two films he is currently "aggressively pursuing" (the other is "All You Need Is Kill," which no, hasn't gone out with an offer to Ryan Gosling because it's still in development).

Reason #7,530 why the offer story is generally lame nine out of ten times. Other than the fact that it's usually false or completely incorrect, it tends to be nothing more than a memo piece of information that leaks far too early; a twinkle in some studio head's eye and a "wouldn't it be nice?"-type thought that's not based in any kind of concrete reality — it's just an idea and when this info leaks, the talent doesn't know about it, neither does their agent and the studio hasn't even gone out with a formal offer yet. Sometimes when a formal offer does go out and when it's delivered from a reliable trade paper, the information can be a bit more substantial, but often times a wishlist or offer story is to be treated with suspicion and/or held away so as not to let the redolent turd reach your nose.

We reviewed this film earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival, but here's another take.

Director Says He Wants To Continue Vacillating Between Tentpoles & More "Serious Films"Doug Liman's "Fair Game" starring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts is about to enter theaters this weekend. Some of us liked it, others of us disliked it, but the consensus on The Playlist team seems to be that no one quite loves it. You'll get another review this week and here's our original take on the film from a review penned at Cannes earlier this year. Regardless, we're glad that films like "Fair Game" are being made instead of pictures like say, uhh, "Jumper" (a 2008 Liman sci-fi teleportation film that just doesn't work at all).
