A deeply disturbing universal truth shifted between the years of 2007 and 2010 during the six-year run of "Lost" that shakes us to the core. Seth Rogen dutifully recognized in 2007's "Knocked Up" this sharp and spot-on observation: "You know what's interesting about Matthew Fox? Nothing!" The world chuckled, concurred and moved on. But somewhere between the release of that movie and present day, Fox's rather amusing, poor reaction to the little dig (even if scientifically recognized as truth, it's a comedy, dude), things changed and Fox became a entertainment magazine cover person bound for stardom thanks to the growing popularity of "Lost."

With filming set to begin very soon in London and Scotland (where Glasgow will double as Philadelphia for some reason), "World War Z" is beginning to get the final pieces of casting into place, once again mixing up television stars with movie actors.

The next few months might be dominated by summer blockbusters, but we're also starting to get the festival hits from the last six months: acclaimed indies from Toronto, Sundance and SXSW, films like "Submarine," "Beginners," "The Trip" and "Page One," all land in the next while and a trailer has just debuted for one of the starrier offerings from Park City this year.

Breakout movie roles don't come as memorable -- or repulsive -- as Aaron Eckhart's slimy performance as Chad in Neil LaBute's "In The Company Of Men." It was a wickedly dark turn in a movie that itself was blackly hilarious that lead to two more collaborations between the writer/director: the excellent "Your Friends & Neighbors" and the far less successful "Possession." And then the two parted ways. Eckhart went on to become one of the top leading men and character actors in Hollywood, while LaBute fell into a bit of spiral directing a string of bad movies including, at the bottom of the barrel, "The Wicker Man" and "Lakeview Terrace." But almost a decade since they last worked together, it looks like the duo are ready to pick up again.

For politics buffs, or really anyone, the 2008 election campaign provided an enormous amount of drama. The twists and turns, from Barack Obama's surprise victory at the Iowa caucuses and the tanking of Rudolph Guiliani's campaign to the death of Obama's grandmother on the eve of his election, gripped the world across the year like it was the best ever season of "The West Wing," so it's no surprise that it would receive big-screen treatment sooner rather than later.

Studios may be principally interested in marketing noisy, crude pictures to teenagers, but that doesn't mean that they're totally ignoring their parents and grandparents. Films like "It's Complicated" and "Last Chance Harvey" have shown in recent years that there's a pretty penny to be made in the burgeoning sub-genre of the aging baby-boomer romance. If the genre has a queen, it's Diane Keaton, and news has come in that the actress is going back to the well one more time.

Academy-Award Nominated Actor Talks Working With Peter Weir On 'The Way Back'EXCLUSIVE: When talking to Ed Harris this week about his turn as the mysterious Mr. Smith in Peter Weir's grueling (but life-affirming) "The Way Back," we couldn't help but ask him about the status of an "Appaloosa" sequel. We're big fans of the 2008 western, which Harris directed and co-starred in, alongside his "History of Violence" co-star Viggo Mortensen, Renee Zellweger (in one of her best post-"Cold Mountain" performances), Lance Henriksen, and Jeremy Irons (as a scenery-chomping villain). The movie had a laid back, sardonic vibe, thanks largely to the fact that it was based on a novel of the same name by smart-ass crime novelist Robert B. Parker. There were two more books based on the characters that Harris and Mortensen portrayed, so we figured a return would be likely, given that Harris has mentioned a sequel many times in the last few years.

Colin Firth & Ed Harris Offered RolesWhat the hell happened to Neil LaBute? Once considered a bold new emerging cinematic voice after delivering two caustic, blistering and hilarious films "In The Company Of Men" and "Your Friends & Neighbors" the director unwisely started taking on projects not based on his own writing. This led to the films like "Nurse Betty" and "Posession" and though he rebounded with the underrated "The Shape Of Things," matters got considerably worse with a trifecta of awful including "The Wicker Man" (man gets attacked by bees), "Lakeview Terrace" (man gets attacked by Samuel L. Jackson) and "Death At A Funeral" (man gets attacked by a midget). Which brings us to Brendan Fraser, who has made a career out of second-rate blockbusters, nauseating family films with the odd drama that no one ever watches thrown in for good measure.
