The prospects for screenwriter Alex Kurtzman's directorial debut, the drama "Welcome To People," continue to rise with actor-writer-director Mark Duplass now joining a cast which already excitingly boasts Chris Pine, Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde and Michelle Pfeiffer.

9 New Photos From The Paul Rudd Comedy Premiering At SundanceWith the film set to premiere later this month at Sundance, Jesse Peretz's star-driven comedy "My Idiot Brother" has launched an official website featuring the first look at the band of actresses playing the sisters of Paul Rudd's protagonist including Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel and Emily Mortimer as well as Rashida Jones who plays Deschanel's character's lesbian lover.

The true test of any director's dexterity and creativity lies with their ability to successfully tackle a myriad of genres. It's enough to be "good enough" in one highly specified field, but to be able to grapple with different subject matters is truly remarkable. Certainly Danny Boyle is a great contemporary example of this, as he's been able to tackle disparate genres like the zombie thriller ("28 Days Later") and heady science fiction epic ("Sunshine"), all the while able to slip back into humanist dramas like "Slumdog Millionaire" and this fall's "127 Hours." (Steven Soderbergh is another notable, current example of an itchy genre experimentalist.)
