With Neill Blomkamp's equally ambitious and mysterious "Elysium" pushed from a March release to the end of the summer, we've had to make do with what little those around the movie are letting us know. We've already recieved a handful of Matt Damon images, and a look at Sharlto Copley as the villain and now comes some fresh images of Jodie Foster in the movie.

"The Joker was a mistaken reference," Sharlto Copley told Empire about his villian role in "District 9" director Neill Blomkamp's upcoming dystopian epic "Elysium." "I was really just saying that that was the last time I saw a villain that inspired me: somebody that set the bar. There’s no connection or likeness to The Joker in terms of the character. What I did with him — which I try to do with all my original characters — was draw from real life. I combined references from a very infamous South African military battalion called 32 Battalion, that fought in the Border Wars in South Africa, and a stereotype of character that you get in the south of Johannesburg, where the guys are a little bit more comfortable with violence!"

With Neill Blomkamp's "Elysium" pushed back to a late summer release, we're going to have to be a bit more patient before we see anything substantial from the heavily guarded film. But Sony has provided a small new taste to tide us over for now.

We have to admit, we were beginning to wonder what was going on with Neill Blomkamp's expensive, mysterious "Elysium." With a release dating looming about five months from now and no posters, teaser trailers, stills or any other kind of marketing, we figured either that a) Sony was going to start a blitzkrieg campaign once they were done with "Skyfall" or b) it was getting pushed back. Now we have our answer.

Yesterday, Neill Blomkamp hit Hall H at Comic-Con with seven minutes of footage from his sophomore feature film effort, "Elysium." The "District 9" director was returning to San Diego as a bit of a hero, having unveiled his first feature at the convention to a rapturous reception and subsequent critical and box office success. But as fans know, Blomkamp nearly made his debut with the Peter Jackson-produced "Halo," an experience he has not minced words about, describing it earlier this year as "a clusterfuck from day one." But, sitting down to chat with our own Jeff Otto, he reveals: "I think 'Halo' was a complete blessing in disguise. I have no idea what would've happened to my career if I had done that."

Neill Blomkamp made one of the more most impressive directorial debuts in recent memory back in 2009 when "District 9" hit theaters; a firmly original, tonally dextrous science-fiction actioner that proved to be a serious sleeper hit, and caused many to compare him to the likes of James Cameron, or indeed his executive producer Peter Jackson.

If you're expecting to hear news about tiny indie projects and foreign auteurs in the latter half of this week, you may be disappointed. Tomorrow night is the kick-off of San Diego Comic-Con, the biggest such event in the world, and one that, over the years, has become a major part of the marketing calendar for some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters. While we still wonder about how effective if it is (see our recent piece), and several studios are skipping this year, including Paramount and Universal, there's still some big-name guests and unveilings taking place between Wednesday and Sunday, and it'll undoubtedly be the major story of the week, movie-wise.

While Neill Blomkamp and his team have done a fantastic job of keeping pretty much everything about his upcoming sci-fi flick "Elysium" under wraps, the time for show and tell is soon arriving. Sony recently confirmed the film will be part of their one and a half hour presentation at Comic-Con in a few weeks, and a little sneak preview of sorts has arrived.
